We booked our venue a good six months ago, deposit paid etc.

We are getting married 30 August 2013.

The wedding coordinator at our venue was lovely, we've had an initial meeting and a more in depth meeting after which we produced together a rough timeline for the day etc from ceromony to cake cutting (we are having the evening reception elsewhere)

We know roughly what we want food and drink wise but haven't confirmed the menu with them yet.

However, we haven't been in touch with the venue since (about six months ago)

The wedding coordinator was very good and said to email or ring any time, and that we could visit the venue and have meetings with her however often we felt we needed to.

I was wondering how often you guys were in touch with your venues? I mean, they don't need the menu choices or final numbers til a month before hand.

I just feel like I'm missing something.... Xx

We were barely in contact with ours. We booked it 2 years in advance then went back 3 months before to pay 50% off and then again a month before for final payment and all the details. In that last month I was in contact quite a lot with small details (like no ice in the MIL's water)

Same as Kat.......Once we had paid the initial deposit, we then left it until 2-3 months before the wedding to discuss the menus, then went along and paid some more money.....then met again 4 weeks before the wedding to finalise everything and give numbers, and pay any remaining monies. Also like kat....in that final month I was in contact quite a lot, they wanted to know times I would be dropping off the wedding cake and table decorations on the friday night.....have I decided on the colours for the flowers and chair sashes......how do I want my tables set out, do I need a highchair for the little girl on the guestlist....that sort of thing. And when I thought of something I would email her, and/or go over there.

I've been in touch with mine a lot since we booked a couple of months ago. The hotel is only small (30) rooms and I didnt want to pay an extra £2000 for exclusive use. We have a lot of family and friends travelling from Ireland and so I wanted them to all book their rooms asap (so in effect we will have exclusive use without paying for it!) Our wedding cooridnator has been really good and emailed us to keep us up to date with bookings so we know who to chase. Other than that, I am going to another open day to have another look, but I havent had any meetings or anything. We weren't really told if this would happen but I feel comfortable in the knowledge that they respond to emails quickly and seem very proactive, so I have no worries at all....

K email mine a lot with different queries. However when we paid deposit they said the next planned contact was 6 months before. X

Since booking ours 5 months ago, I have sent them a few emails to ask questions. We are going to have a meeting in March to taste food and discuss our requirements for the day. Other than that, we've had no contact.

We booked our wedding about 18 months before - but because we got married away from home, at Gretna, after we paid our deposit we only contacted the venue to book extra rooms for guests or if we had an enquiry (which tbh wasn't very often).

We went to visit 3 months beforehand because we were in the area submitting our M10 forms - and we confirmed menu choices and final seating plan then. The venue did tell us that we could contact anytime but there wasn't much point as they were used to doing weddings and we didn't really need to keep contacting them.

We booked ours last October, so 19 months before and have only had contact to ask about a few things and that was by e-mail. The wedding co-ordinator said that apart from the meeting 6 weeks before there's nothing set in stone. She did say that a lot of couples book meetings with her in the 6 months leading up to the wedding just for a catch up and to ask questions so as I'm coming up to the 6 month mark shortly I'll book in with her to talk about timings and things.

We paid out deposit 7 months ago now and haven't had any contact since, I spose their is not much do untill the last sort of 3 months before. I will probably make contact with them just after Christmas before I send out invites, so I can provide the right info on how to book rooms :-) x and too make an appointment to go through exactly what I want :-) x

We booked ours in April and I have spoken to her once on the phone to find out if table cloths and napkins were provided in with our package and that's it. She said we are welcome to pay off the cost bit by bit if we want to, but if not then they will not need to see us until 4 months before unless we have any enquiries. So I think it is pretty usual not to speak to or hear from them until a few months before the wedding after booking it :) xxx
