How much are you paying? The prices I am seeing seem extortionate. Cheapest so far is £365 for hair and makeup for 3 people. Which is £60 to do hair or makeup each..
Am I being too stingy with this or am I right to be completely shocked.

I paid £80 for my trial and will be paying £120 on the day for mine (inclusive of both hair and make up).
My mum's hair and make up trial was £30, and is £50 on the day.
Not getting the bridesmaids done, but if I was then it would be £40 for their trials and £60 on the day.

Ahh maybe that isn't too bad then as includes the trial. Not sure if its a trial for all but will have to ask. Being too cheap haha!

I'd say that's great value if it includes the trial as well!
I didn't think of it with that. if just the brides trial is £45 for each and if all 3 is £30.
That doesn't seem so bad putting it that way!

I paid £135 for hair for me and 3 bridesmaids plus £25 for my trial. My make up was £50 and bridesmaids was £30 (although the girls paid that if they wanted it done). My make trial was free because we hosted a make up party so I was the model of the products. X

I'm paying £80 for trial and £120 on the day for hair and make up. Then paying £160 on the day for hair and make up for my 2 best girls (if they want a trial they will pay that themselves which is £60 per person) and £15 for both my daughters to have their hair done.
So in total that's £390

Seems reasonable to me, but then I've paid around £600 I think for me and 4 others to have hair and makeup, but that includes hair and makeup trials for me and my mum and we're both having airbrush makeup which is more expensive. No idea how it splits individually but I would say £60 for hair and makeup each seems about right. xx

Gosh I think that's all very expensive. Mines on the day is £75 for both hair and make up and bridesmaids are £60. My trial was £45. However, my mum knows the manageress so she's giving me her discount of 20%. Bridesmaids also offered to pay for their own but I might pay it

It sounds expensive to me as our hair is £30 each (£20 trial) but my sisters doing my makeup for free however she charges people £60 for makeup so it's about right,

I think mine's coming out to roughly 350 for hair and makeup for three people. There's not much difference in prices for a lot of the options near me!!

That's so frustrating.
I wasn't sure if I was going to have hair and make up initially, but I decided it was worth paying to not have the stress of doing it myself as I'm not great at styling my hair - I can just about manage straightening it but I have had it short for the last few years (shaved it all off back in 2013) and I'm all out of practice now that it's getting longer.
I also know I could have got a cheaper price elsewhere, but the girls I've hired come very recommended and are very popular - so much so they have no Saturdays free for the rest of the year!

That's good Wundatigga. Will need to get back on the search soon. Will message MOH tonight asking her to look as well as I am really struggling with this. I am not very good at hair and rarely wear makeup so its not really my forte..

I think it's important for the bride to have hair and makeup done professionally. Not just because of the end product but also the whole pampering experience - it's YOUR day and you won't get to do it again (hopefully) ;-)
My step mum is chuffed because she's found out she can go to B00ts the morning of the wedding and get make up done for free lol.
Hope you find someone soon :)

It does add up very quickly - which is why I chose for my BMs not to have their hair or make up done professionally! I gave them the option but told them they would need to pay for themselves if they wanted it.

I agree it can be quite expensive but it's probably the one and only time (and most important one at that) that you will probably have it done so definitely worth the investment.
CommentAuthorEmily17
Hmmm I may ask mom and sister to pay for themselves. Would feel a little cheeky doing that though considering how much they are both helping with the rest of the day.

To be fair I am paying for my mum to have her hair and make up done and I paid for her trial. When I booked the hair stylist and MUA I had every intention of letting my mum pay for herself, but that was before I saw her pay for my dress, my veil, my jewellery, half of our venue bill... After all that I thought the least I could do was pay for her hair and make up!!!
You could always warn them that if at the time there is not enough money left in the budget then they may need to pay for themselves/make a contribution? But you may find you have plenty left in the budget and it won't be a problem.

Yeah, my mom has bought my dress and veil and also given us a massive contribution to our house deposit which we weren't expecting. And my sister is paying for our cars. She is also set on paying for her own dress although I have said all along i will get it. so if she does buy that then I will definitely pay for her hair to be done. We are on target to be under budget at the moment which is why we have now decided to have it done properly but will have to see by how much!!

I paid about £20for my hair trial and £25 for my hair. Did my own make up after having 5 trials and hated each one.
