Me and OH have our heart set on going to Italy for our honeymoon, we have both always dreamed of going and thought it was fitting to make our dream reality on our dream honeymoon! Hehe.
BUT OH went to a big chain holiday shop and asked for prices for a 'multicentre' honeymoon, with a city break (or 2!) and a week in the beach. He was quoted a staggering £4700!!!!
It's ridiculous and broke my heart, we would pay less than that to go to the other side of the world for a fortnight all inclusive. :(

We will go back to suggest one city or just 2 weeks in a beach resort but very few hotels were all-inclusive and I had my heart set on seeing the colosseum in rome and taking a gondola ride in Venice before spending a week relaxing with my new husband.
Maybe I need to get my head out the clouds but I genuinely thought it was going to be a cheaper option!!

Doesn't help that when we get there it's stupidly expensive to buy anything!

    Arg!

Can anyone suggest any other locations? Or a way to make it cheaper?
We aren't the kind of people to spend 2weeks on a beach doing nothing! I was memories and trips and sights! Xxxx

Woah really it was that expensive?!?! H2b and I were thinking of taking a 3 week tour around Europe. We were planning to wing it by booking our flights and accommodation at 2 places and then just seeing how we felt and letting the wind blow us where ever. We were planning to do the first few, and last few days in a really nice hotel and basically book the rest as we went. Have a bit of an adventure. Luckily he's got a PA who will be able to book everything for us, so we'll give her a headache rather than ourselves one lol. By not having a plan we're hoping to make it cheaper by filling rooms at last minute and negotiating. Is there anyway you could book the parts individually rather than as a package to make it cheaper? I hope you can x

I'd suggest pricing it up yourself. You can get single flights with budget airlines, so you can fly into and out of different destinations, and also between destinations eg you can fly from, say, London into Rome, then fly from there down to Florence, and then fly from there to Naples, from which you can visit the Neapolitan Riviera/Sorrento (just as an eg), and theh fly back to London; you'd be looking at about £300 max pp for all 3 flights, inc luggage.

You can then look at price comparison sites for hotels, which will start at approx £40 pp per night B&B; so, for 2 weeks this might cost out at around £600-700 pp.

Basically, you could likely get a multi-centre trip in Italy for around £2000 for 2, excluding spending money (and that would be at nice, but not luxury, accommodations; for more luxury accommodations you might want to add on an additional £500-100 on, so, up to £3k total). In other words, yes, £4700 is a rip-off, and you can definitely do the same holiday for half that price if you're prepared to book flights and accommodation independently, which these days is easy-peasy.

    Thanks all!
I am looking up prices myself and we could get Rome and sorrrento from £1000 each which sounds a lot better! Our honeymoon budget is £3000 which I am hoping will include a lot of the spending money too!
Hopefully I can do it myself and find cheaper options, just another headache I didn't want!

    Xxx
