sorry bit of a boring discussion but really want to create a budget and was woundering what people were paying for the bigger things like marquee and catering,

I would like a hog roast but as a sit down served meal? what sort of prices have you guys come across for something simalar? got most of the rest of my budget done.

Oh also what are you paying for flowers i have a friends mum doing mine but obviously still need to pay for the flowers themselves!

    thanks guys

if you put your budget for more than you want to pay and create your total budget then begin negotiating to keep the total spend down

i cant help you as we are having a sit down meal but that is 100 per head including 2 glasses of wine and sparkling wine for a toast if that helps.

In terms of flowers it depends on what you are looking for. A friend of mine has managed 10 table decs bouquets etc for £350 using gerberas i think they were, whereas I have gone for larger centerpieces and bouquets and only have 5 table decs, 3 posie bouquets, 1 shower and 5 button holes for £1100 and we are not done yet (gonna cheat with the rest and go to a wholesalers shhhh) x It just depends on what you want, which flowers and how many i guess. It depends on what you are happy to spend.

cant wait to be Mrs Evans less than 3 weeks woooo

it's best to come up with a budget you know you can afford and stick to it, then you can start shopping around for things that are in your price range, if you haven't already list all the things you want at your wedding and go from there. xx

just re read your post sorry haha morning head still on! i used wooden flowers on ebay they looked lovely i made bouquets myself paid £30 for all my flowers and table decs too, we got fresh for the button holes and this was £40 for 10,
i know some people have bought their flowers from the supermarkets as are cheaper that way as someone is doing it for you that will work and cut costs
we did a bbq and had our own marquee bought from a friend for £50 so can't help you on that one.

Our catering is £99 per head for wedding breakfast including all the usual (3 courses, half bottle of wine, champagne for the toast, coffee and petit fours etc.) plus the evening buffet. Buffet only is I think £16.95 per head.

    Not having a marquee sorry.

Our flowers are £980 for everything; candelabra centre pieces, two pedestal displays, bouquets, buttonholes, corsages, ceremony display, top table, etc.

I would say work out your overall budget first, then split it based on what is most important. I think you can find budget plans online with % values for each element of your wedding.

    Good luck x

wow £100 a head that sounds a lot aking us up to we both have large families and quiet a few close friends between us to about 98 guests so far... but there is no way i am paying £100 a head that would be more than my overall budget just on food!! lol so sit down meal idea might be out but i will look around!

i rekon i could probably get the flowers for around 600 looking at what you guys have had and are paying (maybe less hopefully, but think i will make that my allowence on flowers!)

    Thanks people.

I was at wedding fair at the beginning of the year they had a really nice marquee think it was around £2200 but that didnt include table clothes and cutlery are you finding that the caterers provide this all in or do you have to hire it sepratley.
    xx

    Hi,

We haven't confirmed our venue yet but we are looking at between £6k-£7.5k for 90 day guest ( 4 courses and drinks package) and 150 evening guest with a hog & lamb roast & dj ( and some table decor dependant on venue)

If you are planning to use a wedding venue have a look at there packages. Some venues do let you modify them to reflect you as a couple.
We are planning to do it for less than 10k ( a lot less I hope...lol)

You can get catering from £30 per head to £200 per head - it just depends on what you want. We chose our venue knowing we had to have their caterers and the cost per head, but you can hire a marquee and find cheaper outside caters to make it more affordable. Have you googled for people in your area?

Sorry biochrissy, it's not 'crazy'. It's the price I, Suzky and many other brides are choosing to pay. A price is a price and is neither 'crazy' or 'sane'.

We had a BBQ as a sit down meal which is similar to a hog roast i suppose. It cost £16 per head. You just have to shop around hun. I spent all in all about £280 on flowers. That included my flowers, 2 bm's, 3 wands for the flower girls, 8 button holes and 10 table centres. The table centres were foam though not real.

to be honest we rarely found a venue that was under 100 per person... some were as much as 150 pp. I think the cheapest we found was 75 but the venue had many probs associated with it and we just fell in love with this one. I know there would have been cheaper places to find but that means sacrificing the decor of the venue and I think that is important as it makes or breaks the photies which are with you forever, along with the rings of course.

Sorry tinseland suzky if i offended you with my comment, it was not meant that way at all. Its just way more than we are paying or could ever afford, esp with such a big family. I appologise for it reading that way xx

It really depends on your caterer, we've got a separate caterer as our venue doesn't supply one (it's not a hotel etc) - the original package prices varied with menu choice for a sit down wedding breakfast from 25-45 per head (don't forget 20% VAT on top) - then toast drinks are on average £3.50 per glass, and welcome drinks £3.00 each, all with VAT on top. However, we managed to negotiate with the caterers as we couldn't afford this (there are 157 people to feed, plus another 40 in the evening) so after changing around from a sit down to a BBQ (approx £17 per head) we then compromised on a canapes, mini mains and dessert structure which we got all in for £25 per head - the advantage of this is now we can feed all of our guests instead of just our day guests - it really comes down to having 3-4 caterers in mind, contact them all to see what they can do, then once you get the best quote play this off against the others to see if they can better it! You'll be surprised at what they can include, we're now getting to the stage where our final price is 30% lower than the very first one - inc VAT, drinks, table wine etc. We basically looked at our finances to see what we could afford, then worked out the price per head, and aimed for that in negotiations - hopefully if you do the same you'll find the same result!

my wedding is in a known hotel and we got a package deal for £3250 this includes red carpet on arrival, piper, chair covers for ceremony and meal, catering for first 60 guests for meal and buffet at night, drinks package for meal and toasts, top table flowers, table planner and name place cards, DJ and Disco for night entertainment and accomodation for myself and h2b. Prices for further guests is £47.50 per head for meal and £7.50 for evening buffet, they have been spot on with everything i have asked for, changed menus, allowing me to also have a band, a photobooth etc. i couldn't have asked for better service from this chain, in total we reckon we will be around £5-£6000 all in as i have been bargain hunting and managed to get some bits and pieces. Everyone has a different budget and u can only spend what ur budget allows u to, there are fab prices and deals out there if u start looking early enough and are willing to haggle lol xx
