How much time off work are people having before the wedding? We get married on a Thursday, thinking of taking the week off. How much time are people giving themselves beforehand to get ready?

Another thursday bride! We are one in a million apparently lol! I think I am going to take the week off to! And the week after, and the week after that because its our honeymoon! Think I will have to look at it nearer the time though x

I only have a few days off. I finish nightshift on the Monday morning then married on the Saturday. Needed all the time off for the honeymoon after.

As at 23/11 - 3 days before the wedding.
We got married on a Saturday. I had the Thursday and Friday off work, Dan had the Friday only. Our ceremony was at 4pm, and the hair & make-up person arrived at 9am (!) so I spent all day getting ready - well in between the bridesmaids and my mum having their hair & make-up too.

I'm getting married on a Sunday. I'm only taking the day before off... my dad's booked three weeks off! H2b doesn't work on weekends so he's not booked any time off.
Might be a bit of a rush but my parents are around to help, as are his, so we should be fine.

This may sound dense but what preparations will be done in the days leading up to the wedding? I'm starting to worry that I've only taken one day off, especially since I will be travelling down from Bedford to Essex as well. Aaah!

To be honest, I'm not really sure.. But we've got family and friends coming from all over the place, so I guess I just want to be around to make sure people are in the right places and that if there are any last minute glitches they can be sorted. I know there are others in the wedding party who can help with this but I must admit to being a teensy bit of a control freak I suppose! I work in the health service and also for myself so when I'm with patients it's sometimes difficult to break off to take phonecalls etc. Plus I can try to relax a little!! :) xx Nisha - can you arrange another day off if you feel you want it? xx

I'm having no time off really, drive to gatwick on the friday, fly to Vegas on the saturday, arrive late saturday night, and just have the sunday and then married on the monday - what have i let myself in for?!?!? x

I doubt I will book another day off until I know how I'm standing job-wise. Since h2b and I are moving, I have to change jobs so I'm trying to minimise my holidays in hopes of not getting turned down. Since I'm aiming for shop work, I wouldn't be working late anyway.

On the thursday before I picked up the cake and had a massage! On the day before I had my nails done and then in the afternoon we went to the venue to set up.

I'm night shifts in the week of my wedding. I'll be going in for the Monday and Tuesday night shifts but will be off after that so have 7am on the Wednesday onwards. Which should be fine as h2b is working the wednesday and thursday and i can run around while he's at work and my lad is at school. Will be having about 10 days off afterwards :) x

I get married on the 8th Sept 2012 and am taking the week off before. Kids go back to school on the 3rd so will have the whole week to myself to do whatever needs doing. Timed it perfectly i think lol x x x

I have not even thought of this yet. I will be starting my third and final year of nurse training so I will have to see if I am in placement or Uni. If it is placement I have a bit more control over what hours I work but if its uni I cant change them. We are travelling to the venue on the Friday and we are getting married on the Sunday then home on Monday. Honeymoons will have to wait. Im hoping things will fall into place around that time was I will have 4months prior to starting year 3 to get everything sorted....

I'm getting married on a Thursday (8 weeks tomorrow in face *eek*) but I guess we're slightly out of the ordinary as we're getting married abroad. We're flying out on the Monday, so we'll be off for all that week (and the weeke after as we'll be on honeymoon). I do, however, feel that I need to take the Thurs and Fri of the week before off too, but not much I can do about that as work were already a bit peeved that I'm taking two weeks in a row! I really need to leave my job...Hx

We get married on the saturday, i am planning on having from wednesday off as have family arriving from all over the place and my bridesman is arriving at mine on the wednesday so want to catch up and pamper myself for a few days. After though i am only having monday tuesday we think because we arent honeymooning till the august and it is half term the following week which most likely i will have to take a few days off to look after kids anyway

I'm booking the week before and then the week after off. I'll tie up any loose ends on the Mon/Tues, relax on the Weds, massage, eyebrows, nails and tan on the Thurs then will have to drive back to Rugby from Herts on the Friday morning for the rehersal and Sat will be the big day! I'm excited now and still have 9 months to go! Haha.x

Yes Mrsbarkertobe!! Hope you do!! I've had a summer holiday wedding to accommodate a teacher bridesmaid and lots of children of school age attending!Thurs because all saturdays and fridays too at our venue booked for aaaaages in advance! Apparently it's posh to get married on a thurs... so our venue told us.. or maybe they were trying to encourage us to book! Lol! Right that's decided then, I'll have the mon-weds off before!! xx

Well I only work Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the moment. And as I am getting married on 17th December I have asked for the 15th to the 22nd off. So I'm just having my Thursday, Friday, Saturday off over the weekend of my wedding then will be back to it the following weekend.
As I was going through the recruitment process I made sure that I could have these dates off, and I can, but as it is a busy supermarket I think I'm the only one with hols in December as they don't really allow it running up to Christmas!! So I doubt we will be celebrating our first year anniversary with a break away!!

I am booking the week before and the week after as we have family coming from ireland and Rachel coming down on the thursday. I have stuff to make for the wedding which is why i am having week off. Otherwise it would only be having the wednesday off until the wedding and then a the week after off

We're getting married on the 6th August but because I (usually) work in a school, it gives us a couple of weeks before the wedding. Unfortunately I've been off work for quite a while so have had loads of time to sort everything else.
H2b breaks up the week before, so has a full week of last minute organising with me lol. I'm picking the flowers up while he's working (his last day in), then 3 days before the wedding we've got to travel to pick up the cake - then travelling up to Gretna the day before the wedding (and still got to pay balance for guests taxis and pick up our schedule when we arrive there).

im a teacher and work will not allow time off, unless I take it unpaid and they will not be impressed with that and I will lose far too many pennies, Therefore, I thought it best to go for around 10 days after I finish work so that all the last min details can be sorted, i can have my pamper, and i can allow a few days unwind before travelling for honeymoon and still be back in time for sept. H2b is NOT taking any time off. We get married sun, he will have a busy day given that it is peak time in Aug for fishing and so will finish at 6 shattered as always and go straight to his mums house to get ready.
