Hey. I'm having a stress and panic attack. We set our wedding date back in September, for this September 7th. I didn't look for wedding dresses before Xmas as I was loosing weight and wanted to feel good before trying on dresses. I only started to look Monday, and everyone is freaking me out saying I've left it too late, and now I feel rushed and completely stressed. ( bye everyone I ran shop owners). Are they saying this as a selling technic or being genuine? Me my mum and sis want to go shopping together, but with us sll working different hours, and me not having weekends off its very difficult. Shall I book some appointments, or am I stressing for no reason?

Not at all hun, you've not left it to late at all! Each to their own.
At the end of the day they say on average to give time for ordering and alterations around 6 months but that isn't definite!
Look at DTTB, they get the dress and measurements and what not within 3 weeks!

Do you have an idea of what you want or anything like that? Maybe start arranging appointments over next couple of months and take it from there. I didn't have a clue what I wanted and wanted to leave it as long as possible due to weight loss etc, but it takes a few months to order in so can always alter if you lose more than you imagine nearer the time. We ordered mine at end of August, taking into consideration xmas/ny closures, and was looking at receiving back in March, so whats that, 6-7 months? I got the phone call last week to say it was in, so only taken 4-5 months?

It definitely depends, but all I can say really is first off breathe, and calm down!
Start phoning around and making appointments and take it from there, there's no rushing around, no need for anyone to just try to sell you a dress, you need to take time to find the one thats right for you! and to be honest, it finds you!
You may get lucky and find it straight away, but spread it out over next couple a months and you will be ok! xx

It took 6 months for mine to arrive in the shop, however if you purchase off the shelf you will be fine.

they can take ages to come in my bridal shop says between 4 and 6 months depending on the designer but most shops do have sample dresses that you can buy you will have the dress you try on but they do usually clean them for you and its a cheaper option my dress is cost £249 in the sample sale and I'm have some bead work and lace put on it to get the look i had in my head and its cost an extra £250 for that so don't panic xx

I did the that about don't tell the bride, I think I'll be ok as long as I do it by beginning of march won't I? I get s stressed and panicky easily, and haven't been sleeping well worrying to death about it. I think my poor mum and sis are getting fed up with me worrying. Everyone keeps tell me to calm down and not to panic. I on what styles. Want yes, but up for trying on all different ones too. God it's so stressful! X

I know most people prefer to order 6-8 months in advance but it is not completley necessary. My friend bought a dress straight off the hanger and had it in her hand within a couple of months all sorted.
Just have a big nosey round to see what you can find :) xxx

Its normally a 4-6 month wait because they are all made to order, and none are made in this country. So by the time the order goes through over here and then gets sent to where it is being made, is then made, then sent back it takes a while (especially as they can have hundereds of dresses to make a month!). But if you get a sample one then you will be fine, if not, I would say dont leave it any later than 6 months before the wedding to order as you have to allow for alterations to be done when you get the dress delivered too xxx
