Our wedding is on Saturday 11th August, and with all the little odds and ends that need doing just before the wedding I have booked time off before the wedding, and after of course to go on honeymoon.... I have booked off from Thursday 9th August, then we go on honeymoon for 12 days, land back in UK on Sunday 26th, the next day is August bank holiday Monday....and I have also booked off the Tuesday.....so will be returning back to work on Wednesday 28th August. so in total I will be having 19 days off.....if you count the weekends too..........I cant wait!
I can resist anything but temptation

I work in a school, which is the main reason why we choose August. I can be off before hand to organise everything and then have time off after to squeeze in a honeymoon. H2B on the other hand is having to have 3 weeks off and when your self employed thats not soo great x x
CommentAuthorElliekitty
I haven't booked any time off work yet, i really should have a think about it. I get married just after Christmas and i am only allowed to have a certain number of days off in term time, ill have to think carefully!

I am getting married on Friday 4th May. I work on trains which makes my time off slightly complicated. I have the Thursday as a rest day (not rostered to work), then taking the friday off (obviously!). I am rest day on the Saturday and then Two weeks block leave from the Sunday (our working week runs from sunday to sunday!) so I will be off about 2 and half weeks really. So looking forward to it!

I've got from the 13th September off, we get married on the 15th. I've then booked w/c 17th, 24th and 1st October off, so almost 4 weeks! Yay! But, that's mainly because it's a new job and they had to honor my time off.x

Well we are getting married on the 27th December, so we are both off work from the 22nd December to 14th January which in total is 24 days but due to weekends & bank holidays with it being Christmas & New Year we only have to use 12 holiday days (which also falls into 2 work years as our holidays run from Jan - Dec!) ! Whoooooooop! cannot wait!!!!! x

i had planned to take the week before my wedding, 2 weeks after for honeymoon and going back the following wed so 3 and a half weeks which got authorised. i then changed my job so i had the day before off and 2 whole weeks and the next monday/tuesday so it was just under 3 weeks 19 days x

I finished work on Friday 9th Sept and we flew out to Vegas on Mon 12th, then got married on the 15th. We flew back on the 21st, arriving back home on Sat 22nd (cos of time difference) and I started a new job (promptly to be made redundant!) on Mon 24th. SO I guess it was 2 weeks for me!

nicsqaured.....Yes I also might take TOIL on the wednesday that I break up, and finish at lunchtime or something. we work flexi hours so if I build it up I can take whole days off or an hour here or there off. All I'd have to do is go in 30 mins early every day for a week, and its built up 2.5 hours........and I can do that whenever I like so maybe even a month before I could do it and take off a few more days.
I can resist anything but temptation
CommentAuthorNicsquared
I'm not allowed to take whole days, i very rarely take back any of my toil, probably rack up at least 5 hours a week - ah the joys of working in the nhs

I was working in a school when we got married, and that's why we booked the wedding in August. I had a couple of weeks before the wedding and just over two weeks when we got back from honeymoon.
My husband works for the NHS and was allowed 4 weeks holiday - providing he took 2 weeks paid and 2 weeks unpaid as it's a rule that only 2 weeks can be taken in summer months. By doing it this way it's meant that he's managed to save some holiday for the rest of the year though, and could have his birthday week off this year (February) so that was good.
CommentAuthorEMC
We're not having a honeymoon :( Tony's a teacher, and I'll be starting my training as an F1, so neither of us could get time off around the wedding... We're getting married on the Saturday, and back to work on the Monday.
CommentAuthorMrs Cerutti2b
We've got 10 days off, finish work on the wednesday, married on the saturday, then a full week off after that. Would have loved to take longer off, but wasn't possible :(
CommentAuthorLisaS
i have booked 15 days off 2 days before the wedding and 13after the wedding for the honeymoon also managed to get the bank holiday on the end of the honey moon so i get an extra day off work for nothing!! :-) iy means i work a total of 7 days in the whole of august !!
CommentAuthorbridalmiss
Ours is a bank holiday Sunday, so we're taking the Thurs/Friday before off and the rest of the week - so off from 1-11th June inclusive as the wedding is up north where I grew up and then we've a 3 night mini-moon (so only 6 days leave) - then in September we've another 2 weeks off for our proper honeymoon in the Maldives :-)
I have a national customer deadline looming end July so I couldn't really take any more time off in June - well I could, but I'd feel awful about it!

I'm exactly same at MrsField2b!! :0D
Getting married Sat 15th September so i've booked Thursday and Friday before it off (13th & 14th) then we go away on the Tuesday after the wedding for 2 weeks but only get back on the Wednesday so i've booked 3 full weeks after the wedding and go back in work Monday 8th October!! H2B is same 3 full weeks off but don't think he can get the 2 days before off.
We said it'll be nice to have all that time as Sunday after the wedding will be a blur and we'll just want to relax, Monday we'll be sorting last minute bits for the honeymoon so then when we get home we can still have a few days to look forward too, to just relax and send out our thank yous, get in touch with our videographer and photographer etc....can't wait!!!
CommentAuthorLindsey
We are getting married on the Friday of half-term. Have booked half-term week off and the following week so will be about 15 days in total. x

I work in a school so we break up on July 20th - get married August 11th - honeymoon on 18th August, dont return to work till sept 3rd (i think lol) given lots of time for last min bits n bobs before hand xx
CommentAuthorjoey86
I can only take 2 weeks max off work at any one time, whereas h2b can take 3 weeks! I'm not sure if they'll be a bit more lenient because it's my wedding (to be honest, I haven't asked yet as I don't know what dates I'll need). It's quite annoying really as I only get 20 days and we have to take 3 days out of that for Christmas holiday, so if I do take 2 weeks, I'll only be left with 7 days for the rest of the year! x

well I think you need to talk to your boss, as legally full time workers working 5 days a week are entitled to 28 days holiday a year. I will post a link on your page that say this. x
