I all, we are wondering how much we should expect to be spending on a wedding cake? We are having about 60 people to the church and then up to 150 in the evening. We are only having a buffet in the evening (hoping to get married later in the day) and not have a sit down meal. Also does this mean we wont have favours because there will be no place settings for people as such, so how would we give out favours to everyone?

At my dads wedding the favours were handed out on a big tray by the mother of the bride. Dad didnt hve a meal either as he had a 3pm wedding. With th cake th pries i have seen are about £300 if u get one professionally done, or you can get the ones at supermarkets for much cheaper which you can decorate yourself. They are about £20 (if u go for M&S). We getting ours made from a riend though which is our wedding present.

We set aside £500 for our wedding cake and it is only costing us £275 including delivery and set up and the hire of the stand. We have a four tier cake with chocolate, fruit and 2 sponge layers! but we did have to do a lot of shopping around until we found one that was perfect.

As for favours at a later wedding i personally wouldn't do them because there is no sit down meal and seating plan! save yourself some money!! :) x x

My wedding cake is gonna cost £30 from asda. My mums cake pillars are going to be my something borrowed, My sister is my florist so she will be supplying me with matching ribbon for each cake and next week me and my mate are going to get the supplies for a coffee and cake morning together and we are going to make some beaded, fireworky cake toppers. If they turn out well, Im chucking them all on ebay for some extra cash for my wedding and then once I'm confident in making amazing ones, Im keeping one for my cake. All in all...

    £60

I'd rather have a spongebob squarepants one from tesco than spend over £100 on a cake. A cake that lets face it, noone actually cares about after they have took their pictures. lol

But then again I am from Yorkshire, my favorite saying is "Owww much?!?!" lol

Im the same as puddleduck but im making my own cake (guna cover inaccuracies with icing flowers hehe). Im not too bothered about having a cake really, its only for the oldys of the group who want tradition otherwise I wouldnt have one - or have a joke one bought from asda. xx
