CommentAuthorloola_hoop
i think about £319 is the MINIMUM they can charge! - ours is £500 starting point, we are still due to have another meeting with the vicar - which reminds me i need to get on an arrange that!! lol xxx
CommentAuthorDi B 83
Ours is costing £522.50, i think it depends where in the country you live and if you want the bells, choir etc x
CommentAuthorsbride
Mine is costing £550
I am now Mrs Stacey Stiles and loving it!
CommentAuthormrs handforth
mines costing £490 but if i was to have a summer wedding then it would be £410
it all depends on the church, im sure theres another thread about this and the difference people are paying is quite a big difference. ours is a methodist church and its costing us £235, thats for, church, minister, organist and steward. we also have to pay a lady seperate for doing flowers for the church,(not that expensive but not sure the final amount) which are left in the church for the sunday service then on the monday they are taken to local sick people and oaps who have no family around , which i am quite happy about and dont mind paying for. x
21st October 2011 will be the best day of my life!!!
CommentAuthormelvis
its usually a basic cost of £260 for the service and the ministers time and then they add on addional costs such as banns, marriage certificate, heating and electricity, organist, etc etc... all in all ours is £400... thts an anglican church xx

Ours was just under £300 for Church, Organ, verger, bell, and flowers. Banns was seperate-£34 each to our own parishes. However it was supposed to be more but we weren't charged for somethings at vicars discretion.

ooh so many different prices aren't there ive no idea now until i see the vicar :-) i have expected £300 or so for the budget hmm should be okay. how did you approach your church my mum says to go in as i was thinking of calling them up. x
CommentAuthorSuzie Bear
Mines like Ekielty. We have to make a donation to the church, so we're giving £100 and the organist is £50. The lady who does the flowers every week in church has said to us to let her know our flowers, give her the money and she will get them at the market and make them up for us for free (gonna save us a bit). Our church bells are electric so they're doin that for free cos its only a case of flicking a swich. We're currently searching bay of e for pew ends now. x

My organist is a set fee - i presumed it would be a donation but its not.. We are giving the church £100 donation if we can, then the registrar fee and we have been told that the lady who does the flowers in church will do them that week to incorporate our colour scheme so thats good! xx

CommentAuthorVicky
What are banns?? Our is 627.90 is such a random figure!!
CommentAuthorCharlz
This is copied off of wiki for the explanation of Banns...
The banns of marriage, commonly known simply as "the banns" or "bans" (from a Middle English word meaning "proclamation," rooted in Old French[1]) are the public announcement in a Christian parish church of an impending marriage between two specified persons. It is commonly associated with the Church of England and with other denominations whose traditions are similar; the Roman Catholic Church abolished the requirement in 1983.
The purpose of banns is to enable anyone to raise any canonical or civil legal impediment to the marriage, so as to prevent marriages that are invalid. Impediments vary between legal jurisdictions, but would normally include a pre-existing marriage that has been neither dissolved nor annulled, a vow of celibacy, lack of consent, or the couple's being related within the prohibited degrees of kinship.

I feel like I am being taken here as mine is £900. I dont even know what it includes as it didnt say in the letter, just write the chq payable to XYZ...............
:-(
CommentAuthorKye
In thought the law of the land was around £290-£330 but i might have picked up that wrong. Mines £330 inc banns, certificates etc but if i wanted bell ringing it would be £110, organist £60 etc so it would prob add up if i had these options xxx
CommentAuthorKye
This figure is based on a couple living at the same address and marrying outside their own parish and includes:
the fee set by law payable to the church: £262 your marriage certificate: £3.50 having your banns read at the home church: £22 having your banns read at the church where you will marry: £22 your banns certificate: £12 Total legal fee: £321.50
Hope this helps xx
CommentAuthorStave
Thanks Kye - God only knows what the extra is for on mine. I am gonna email the vicar now x
CommentAuthorx jade_p x
JaeSin - Mine's expensive as well, it started off at £669 for just the church, but we wanted the choir and the bells so it's gone up to about £790! xx

Ours is CofE church. Banns an certificate £34,church service £448 plus £16 for red carpet and £58 for candle array at the front. This is without having to pay for flowers, choir, organist, bells etc which are quite expensive so I think we will just have some flowers!! They charge a fortune for the bells and when I re read it they just play a recording of them!!

Ours is £550 including bells and organist and all the usual wedding stuff. We decided against the choir. The flowers are extra but really not expensive at all it'll be around £75 for pew ends and bows etc it's amazing the difference in prices. My aunties church costs more as they don't do many weddings, but mine does loads so is all prepped for them xx
CommentAuthorFruity_pops
