OMG i wish i could do my day on a smaller budget. Im lucky enough to not really have a budget but have said no more than 22,000 for one day as you lot are right its not about having or putting on a show its all about our commitements to each other. But no my venue is obiviously a rip off ( thats what im thinking now) its costing us 12,000 for 70 day guests and 140 night time incl all food and chair covers ( rip off) and its only in a country manor house in northumberland maybe the north east is way over priced xx

The South East is also very expensive,The minute you mention 'wedding' prices for everything get bumped up ridiculously :(
We have no one helping with our wedding, apart from our cake being paid for by my Mum & Nan.
We are lucky in the fact that my best friends (who are sisters) are photographers & florists so thats a big cost cut down.

I'm not sure what ours will be yet - between 10k and 15k, depending on what extras we decide on.. don't think this is that bad because we are having just over 100 to the meal an about 140 in the evening and are being quite liberal with the booze! I don't mind paying for what I get, but it just really annoys me paying over the odds because it is a wedding.

We are lucky to be getting photography for the cost of two square meals and cake courtesy of one of my friends!!

im cheap and cheerful and sticking to a budget of £1,500. yup, thats right..no zero's missing!!
so far ive spent £100 exactly.................my dress (see my album) was £99 and a bag of table confetti for a quid.
im making all my own invitations, making all my own table decorations,(white feathers,( for every good deed we do, we collect another white feather for our angel wings) and (im from the lake district so a nature theme is planned) , my man's dad is in a band so they are free, my mam and auntie are both fantastic buffet makers after doing loads for other events, my mam is a confectioner by trade, my friend is a photographer and doing it for a few pints,im making my own bouquet, button holes and flowers, can you tell the theme is cheap and cheerful.................im not skint or a skinflint but i cant see the point of spending thousands for one day when a weddin can be just as good on a lower budget. ive been to weddings that cost THOUSANDS!! and afterwards its like.................?? what did they manage to spend so much money on lol,??

Mine will be about 15 - 20k I think based on my initial estimates (including honeymoon) but I will try to get this down as much as possible.

The main cost is the venue as it's 5K venue hire and then i need to pay for the food & drink etc on top of that. Luckily my parents will be contributing some but the rest is up to us so we really need to save as have no savings or any money aside! I have planned what we need to save each month to be able to acheive it in time so as long as we stick to it we should be ok.

when i hear how cheap other people are doing it for i worry about spending so much and justifying it but i love the venue so much and only do it once don't you! plus i have a large family so just cant keep the numbers down for the day!!!

    It is so stressful! x

yeah maybe! i think you've got a point there!

only thing that worries me is the saving up, the actual 'planning' I am really enjoying though and am so looking forward to getting into it properly, making things myself and finding bits. Wedding's not till Dec 2011 though so not much really for me to do until about a year before.

As we got married abroad (11 nights in St Lucia with Sandals) ours was £7,000 which of course was our honeymoon too. Bargain.

I've set a budget of £5000 without honeymoon but I think I'll manage it for less than three. H2B wants an £8000 honeymoon though (two week cruise around galapagos islands) but I doubt we'll manage that it'll probably be a week in a BnB in wales then hopefully in a few years have dream holiday (if we havent started having kiddies by then)

After I almost died last year we decided after 23 years together to get married and give our family and friends a day they could remember where we are all together. The budget is up to £20,000 but last year made us realise how fragile life is and we wanted a day we could record on dvd as a memory for our children, who are my bridesmaids, ushers, best man etc. I love my better half more every day, even now and marrying him will mean everything to me and him. We aren't having a honeymoon but spending the money on having a day where the kids can feel amazing and our family and friends can have the best day ever. I'm lucky that I have a wonderful family on both sides and a great network of friends, to us it's worth every penny, but we are working tons of overtime to pay for it! ;o)

Our budget is £2,000, but i think we are going to be well under it. The venue is going to be a big chunk of that as its a castle. Everything else is going to be quite simple, and i'm making most things. I got the material for my dress, h2bs waistcoat, bridesmaid dress and best womans dress for under £100. xx

hopefully no more than 4-5 grand. im on disability and he is my carer so we dont earn much with 2 young kids to look after.
our parents arent paying a penny towards it though personally im a bit gutted as im their only daughter and its my first and only wedding. oh and that 4-5 grand will include a family holiday for 4 all inclusive at around 2 grand so for the wedding really i have 3 nd i have no friends who know photographers or anything like that so it will be a challenge, saying that i think the venue will give us a good deal. im hoping to get a bank loan then pay it off afterwards but i doubt with the sorry state of affairs my banking is in i will even get a loan!

we dont have alot of money, and even if we did we didnt want a big huge fussy wedding (not that anyone elses is x) but because of the hugeness of our families we have had to think of that and marc has never been abroad so we wanted to do something special for our honeymoon. but so far thanks to the amzing world of ebay we should be spending less then our budget and we over budgeted for our honeymoon anyway just to be on the safe side. but i agree with Goff, im having loads of fun planning for the wedding and its all about the commitment.

Ours is £4500 for the venue, and £3500 for the catering so £8k already and that's without everything else.... Luckily my dad is buying my dress and giving me cash towards whenever he's got some spare plus h2b's parents giving us £3k plus buying wedding cake, bridesmaids are buying their own dresses, so this saves us a bit...
No room decorating, table plan, name tags, favour bags, centrepieces etc to buy as this all included in venue price xx

Ours is costing around 15000 and we are paying for it ourselves. A lot of staying in has been involved to save up. Personally I would have liked to get married abroad with a few guests and spend the money on the house but we have had so much pressure of h2bs mother to get married in this country that h2b said we had to get married over here x x

A wedding is just one day, i went to two weddings last year one that spent 25 grand and one that spent about 7 grand and you really could not tell that they had spent such different amounts of money. But it's personal choice at the end of the day x x
