    So this is for all the brides who have already planned this part I am having a civil wedding and want it to mean a lot in regards to how quick it is can anyone suggest how it can last longer and are we allowed to choose wordings rather that the traditional words

    Quite a few people have had 1 or 2 readings, before or after the vows are read out to help make it last that little bit longer.

    Poems, passages, song lyrics - I went to one where the FoG read out a verse from the couple's favourite Nickelback song! they can all be read out.

    I know what you mean about wanting it to last longer than 10 minutes as its the most meaningful part of the day. Just because its not in a church or a house of worship doesn't mean that it means any less! Average times are 20-40 minutes and then you have to take into consideration signing of the register etc and photo opportunities... our venues given us an hour slot in the 'timetable' I think. The one i mentioned above, was about 40-45minutes. They had the civil ceremony followed by the reading then the signing then professional photographs then 'amateur' (us lot) photographs!

    I want to have two readings in mine. Id ideally like the ceremony part to last at least thirty minutes!
