Hey. We decided that because were getting married a few days after christmas next year that we need to get our save the dates out soon and so im about to start making them but... how much info actually needs to go on them??? James says that im over thinking and just need to put the date on and keep them simple and add more info in the actual invites, however im worried that

a: people need to know about booking a room if they plan to stay over (most of my friends and family live nowhere near us) just if i was going to a wedding and needed to stay over days after christmas i'd want notice longer than a couple of months so as i could save up.

b:were only inviting children to the evening part of the day and wouldnt want kids to be getting excited about coming... when their not.

is it too much too add this info in a save the date and has anyone any ideas around this? would be grateful for any help or advice, thank you xx

Hiya hun I have family and friends coming all over the place - furthest being Malta.

My Save The Dates simply said:

    Save The Date
For the Wedding of Claire and Cal
    16th June 2012
    Woodbridge, Suffolk
    Formal Invitation To Follow

If people have any questions regarding hotels I'm sure they'll ask. I'm sending the invites 6 months in advance with details of everything! Lol xxx

Mine says the town and date, with details of our website which gives venue details etc but this bit isn't necessary, I just put it together as a lot of our relatives are overseas. We also emailed ours out to save on postage too :-)

My save the dates literally said :
    save the date
    24th march 2012
    ryan and katies wedding.

On a fridge magnet with a photo that ryan had taken of the spanish steps (which was where he proposed)

To freinds and family who are coming from a long way away, i wanted all in the same hotel so that we could all spend time together the next day as we dont all get together very often at all..... so i included a letter to those people with details of the hotel we are boking into so that if they wished to stay with everyone else they could get thier room booked. It was all good.

I have a little poem in ours which I'll be sending a year to the day before. Then the invites are going out 6 months before so ppl can book hotels etc.
Usually save the dates are just that your names and a date no other info so maybe if you have so much info you want to send maybe send the invites out earlier then most like we are

Thanks Antonia, I love the a&b too and we're putting it on the invites and menus etc as a bit of a monogram - I've even got them printed on circular stickers so we can use them as envelope seals!! Only £30 for 120 of them - couldn't help myself but I think they'll look ace!

Nicoles Mummy, I've put this on the groupon thread but today there's a £60 voucher for an online printing company for £12, they can print all your magnets for you as a girl from my office had that done for her save the dates! Details on the thread x
