Me and the other half are in debate about how much is acceptable to pay.

I am willing to pay the extra to get exactly what i want

He is happy to be a cheap skate and just get something that will do.

    mine will cost about 500/600

    His about 150

what is the normal to pay and what did you get for this?

    xx

My mum made ours, but we paid for all the material - for 70, they came in at around £120, so not cheaper, necessarily, than buying them, but nice to have a more personal touch!

I was going to make my own which was going to cost around £100-120 for all the little bits but i found a site that does exactly what i want and will cost me £69 for 30 day (2.95 each) and £49 for 30 evening (£2.45 each)which i thought was brillant as i was looking at the same cost doing them myself anyway so i thought why not get someone else do them? ( we are having the pocket fold type ones).
    Pics in my profile
All the little bits ive already got im going to use on my other stationary bits instead and on my favours

i wanted pocket fold invites and found what i wanted but they were going to cost £600. i decided that i was going to have them and emailed the lady and she booked me in and everything. h2b agreed that they were nice but said it was a lot of money.

i then looked around on the bay and found some different ones that i liked. there werent as nice but were cheaper at £140! i went for the cheaper ones as i thought they will end up in the bin anyway! xx

we were going to make our own then found some on ebay i liked, printed ones that i can just add too so i have added ribbon and rhinestone and its cost me about £0.25p per invite! only downside is i have to handwrite them but they look much nicer than my handmade ones!

My mum made ours too and i think in total is has costs £21. Now I already knew she had some of the card in stock as she makes cards as a hobby but she tells me the card is only a few pence per sheet anyway so the total price would not be much more. Everyone loved them and my H2B family couldnt believe my mum made them (they live 70 miles away and do not know my family) I think it is silly spending hundreds of pounds on invites, but that is my opinion.

    Madison_uk,

I love your optimism of my artisitc skills. Seriously I can't even draw a straight line never mind cut one. My drawing of a house is how a child perceives it, a square with triangle roof more squares for windows etc. lol.

Def shopping around though, had some samples received from someone else which are really nice. It will still cost about £500, though. I have looked at ebay and cheaper options but it is not what I want or like. Hopefully, something will turn up still got time yet.

It's not how much you spend on them its about having what you want. I do think that the invites set the tone of what is to come.

I've seen some lovely items made by brides on here that haven't cost the earth but look amazing but I've also seen some not so good that have ended up costing them just as much as if they had brought them by the time they have priced up all the embellishments they have used on them so I would say before you decide to make them work out what it is going to cost allowing for mistakes and then work out what is better for you.

We're making ours and I think for 80 people it's going to be around £60. How many invites would you be getting for £600? Even for the 'perfect' invitations I think that's extortionate. There are few people who will keep hold of them, so it's all that money going in the bin really.
