this is about a catholic edding, but i read last nite that they can't refuse to marry you just because u cant afford it. maybe its different for CoE? i dont no. why not ask n c if there's anyway u can cut the cost of it? if it's 700 for my church then im screwed! xxx

a lot of civil ceremonies cost more than some of the figures people have mentioned, and double the price if you don't have your reception there. older churches are very expensive to insure and heat etc so actually they don't make much money from wedding fees at all. the up keep of a church is extortionate and their main source of revenue is from collections. including bells, organist, choir etc. mine will be about £900.
just wanted to mention this, as i used to be in my church's choir etc and dad used to do their accounts, and actually it would have closed long ago if the congregation have donated time and money. we used to have to do a lot of findraising events to keep it going. I personally remember painting walls etc just to help with the maintenance.
