I have bought an Ian Stewart dress that has been worn once before, found it in a lovely small bridal boutique in Darlington. Was around £1500 new, and I paid £600 for it. Bargain in my books! :) x

mine was £1000 a few hours before i went into the shop..... the shop started their sale that morning. It was the only sale dress i tried on, all the others were still full price at about £1100. But i got mine for £500! i am paying £50 to get the back changed from zip to lace up back, and then alterations on top of that. Oh and a hoop. So not sure what it will end up costing.

I bought mine in the USA while on holiday. I had seen a similar one over here for £1200, but with the exchange rate at the time it only cost me £350. Granted the whole holiday cost a lot but if you happen to be travelling somewhere it's always worth having a look for bargains there!

Mine should have been £999 but I got it for £850 which also included £100 worth of fittings or accessories. I did find a dress for £1180 and rang around all the shops and found one that would do it for £850 so it really is worth ringing up all the shops before you hand over any cash.

They cost so much as people are willing to pay that much. Simple economics.

    Theres also
-shop overheads- a lot higher than for a high street store (staffing, rent, council tax, utilities, samples etc)
    -advertising
    -materials
    - taxes
    - profit
    - skilled labour

My mum has bought mine and paid £850 for a dress that should have been £1300 but it was an ex sample dress so managed to get it cheaper. The reason i can justify spending that much is because i LOVE my dress and will feel amazing wearing it and i plan to get a replica made for my (by then 18 month old) daughter to wear, i will keep the replica ( having a constant but smaller keepsake) and sell my dress to get some of the money back which will then go into paying off some of the wedding etc. I got my veil 2nd hand off ebay as well as my bridesmaid dresses and i plan to sell these all on too! x

Mine was £500. It's by Provonias and got it in a sample sale. Was originally £1,700 so a bargain! Sample sales defo worth looking at, but I think it's worth just paying the money if you've fallen in love with the dress. It's always going to be a lot of money for a dress you'll only wear once, but how you feel in it on the day will be priceless!

My dress will be costing £242. There will be added charges for custom colour but the designer did my engagement dress and I have bought casualwear from her as well so she is going to give me a discount. Technically, I will only be paying £26 for my dress because I will be finally getting my deposit back from the house I rented during my third year at uni and that will be going towards the dress.

    I can't wait to order it :D

My dress was £850 and then I had to pay an extra 10% to get the shorter length as i am only 5'1". Which makes no sense to me at all, you pay more money for a dress that is made from less material?? lol! So £935 in total.
