i have just found a stunning venue and luckily it's a venue which has a amazing relationship with the marquee people i picked. thing is i am really worried about how much of a deposit they're going to ask for. the reason is, i am paying for my wedding mainly out of the inheritance my mum has left me but i dont get it till 2013 and before that i have to petition solicitors for it -_- so i am hoping it's not too much so i can say to the solicitor can i have this much for such and such.

Ours was £50 to provisionally hold the date for 2 weeks, then 20% deposit to book it - another 30% 6 months before the wedding and 50% 3 months before - so hopefully you'll be fine if your wedding's not for a while yet x

Best thing to do is to ask about their payment terms up front, then you know when you need to pay stuff off - usually you never have to pay up front, and everything needs to be settled a few months before the wedding so you should be fine - in fact, every single one of my suppliers (except shoes, which I bought in full on the day) have asked for deposits first then full payment 3 months before the wedding, and the caterer and band want payment by or on the wedding date itself!

i havent book my venue yet but i know that they will hold the date for 2 weeks and then we have to pay a £500 deposit. Its the same with alot of hotels up here. They will prob say in your terms and conditions what they want or just give them a quick call to see what the deposit is

We paid 10% deposit to secure the date after going through what we wanted and getting a rough quote. Our venue was very good with us, the pencilled in the date and we went to see them ... but it was three months before we gave them the desposit! Luckily they were really good with us, and we'd been eamiling them loads so they knew we weren't messing them around.

mine is costing me £1500 in total for the ceremony and reception as its all in one place but the cost is actually the wedding package i chose unless i go for a cheaper one in which case it would be cheaper, so my deposit as it stands is 150 10% of the total price. my venue doesnt actually charge for the use of the venue! just the food drink etc and the ceremony license fee which is 150 and the registrar i book seperately. i would guess most deposits come in at about 20% but if its a high market venue they may charge more, if u budget for 50% u should be fine x
