I'm just wondering when it came to picking the venue, how many did you visit before deciding on 'The One'??
I know the more I visit the more overwhelmed I'm going to feel with all the choice but I'm worried I'll miss out on the perfect venue if I don't go see them all! Please help!! xxx
CommentAuthorMrs (Dove) Pidgeon
I think we only visited two. However we must have looked at hundreds of brochures!

We only looked at one. It was the only place big enough and cheap enough. Still lovely tho. most places could only fit up to 50 people in the day and 100 people in the eve. or they were rediculasly expensive. x
I can't believe we've actually done it
I am now Mrs Limara Tester
CommentAuthorkrazykitty
we had decided on one that we wanted but i was totally unrealistic price wise and because it a public place you might have every tom, dick and harry poking their noses in etc but our second choice we really really weanted but we thinking the owner doesnt think we serious as she kept telling up mega big prices and that they would go up ewtc and that you have to have sit down, buffet AND drinks to get the package (50+guests) tho it dont say that in brochure so we went to their sister hotel and it was soooo much better it a star less but the rooms and the people are so much more friendly and cooperative and althought the drinks work out slightly more expensive (bout 50p i think) over all it so much better plus we dont have to pay room hire or ceremony fee which evern better just got the registrar to worry bout now lol. we did look at another pace that h2b fell in love with but they not even emailed back and it bin nearly 2 weeks so that strickes them off the list
i cannot wait to marry my best friend
i love you ry!!!

Yeah the issue I think we're going to have is we're only looking at having around 50 for the ceremony but around 200-250 for the reception! At lot of places don't like the huge difference in numbers xx

CommentAuthorMrs Sazra
We didn't have much choice, so only looked at 2!
CommentAuthorDrunchPunk
Yeah, lots of brochures is the way forward. Then you can make a shortlist by cutting out the ones that don't tick your boxes. You can chop out ones that don't hold your numbers, ones that are too expensive etc. For me I had to have candles so I looked at the pictures to see if there were any on the tables. I was also keen on exclusive use.
Then you don't have to go see hundreds and drag poor h2b out of bed the next 10 Saturdays!
I've now 99% certain I've found the one I want, and it was the 4th one we had seen.
CommentAuthoremma21085
The issue we've got as well is me and h2b both work shifts and don't always have the same days off so if we went to see loads, it could take months as we'd have to wait for days off together! I've sent emails to around 8 venues I'm interested in, stating the numbers I want and seeing if they do evening appointments, if they can't do our numbers then that strikes them off the list straight away which makes things easier! The one I'm in love with I think has specified they like at least 60-70 for the sit down meal - I love it that much that I'm willing to do that! x
We sent off for many brocures and then sleected the ones that were within our budget (ended up being 3). I visited two and try get an appointment with the other one but they were fully booked. Went with the one that seems to proof best value for money and was also near the chapel we are getting married at
CommentAuthorjellytot
i saw lots on the internet but only one stuck out for me. so we went to view it and knew it was perfect straight away!
CommentAuthorKaya
We've only seen 1, though we both love it and thinks its "the one". Still gonna see a couple more just to compare though x

CommentAuthorMrs Turps (Nicpep)
me and H2b were 100 miles apart for those weeks wbhen picking a venue so what i did was serach all of the internet for ones I liked, sent him to go check them all out. He came back with some he liked and we went to see them. So I only went to like 3 or 4, got him to do the leg work

We looked at loads of brochures, and went to see five. The place we went for at the time only did receptions, but when we went there they told us that they'd just got a license to perform ceremonies too - that sealed it for us.

I'm newly engaged; looked at probably 4 dozen online and ruled most out for various reasons (eg cost, size, decor, etc), and have shortlisted 10. Of those, I've seen 5 so far, really really like 1, though another 2 are possible contenders.
Wanted to see quite a few so I could be sure I was making the right decision; I've fallen in love with one though, my OH is yet to see if but I just know he'll love it, it's very 'us'; but, my mum keeps banging on about how the ceremony room isn't the best (she has a point; it's quite small and the bride can't really make a proper entrance), yet, I don't care because the ceremony will be like 30 minutes, and nowhere else compares in terms of everything else... Still have 5 to see though so we shall see!
CommentAuthorTrish Goddard
We looked at THREE....
But as we didnt have alot of money to spend, we looked at social clubs etc....
the first two was far to small to cater for 120 ppl in the evening... so we went with the Third on which just so happens to be in our town..... mind you the Registry office we are getting married at is 14 miles away so it makes no difference where we had the recetion...

I think ours was about the 5th. I had gone through loads of possibles on the internet and then cut them down either by their prices, location etc. I then made my way around the possibles. What I thought would be my fave from the searches ended up being such a let down when we got there which in a way is a good thing because it was the most expensive too! Worked out in the end the one we fell in love with was just perfect and had everything we wanted and the bonus was it was one of the cheaper ones on the list.
CommentAuthorVicky
We looked at two - One being our garden then just feel it love with the other one!!
CommentAuthorHappilymarried Mrs G
We looked at lots of websites etc and got ideas on prices first so that i wouldnt go see one, fall in love and then be unable to afford it. We also had a list of requirements that cut down our search somewhat. I think we only actually visited 2 and i fell in love with the villiage hall.
CommentAuthormrs pinkalice
ours was the 2nd one we looked at but we looked at 2 more after even tho we knew we had found 'the one' we wanted to make sure x
CommentAuthormcquire81
We have only visited one which was our favourite off the list and still is! We love it, but for balance we will visit a couple others. I think this will be the one though.

We already had our church we knew we wanted and have got..even though we have never been inside it..thats on our to do list. But its a very popular little church set in a beautiful village with thatched cottages and horse and carriages. (pics in album).
We looked at 3 reception venues but also knew which one we would like, but just looked at alturnatives. Each time I go back I like it even more (pics in album too) :D x

We went to quite a few coz we kept finding out they were way above our budget. Then we found ours through the internet by accident and was half the price of the others so we went for that straight away :) Plus it just felt right and I could see myself walking down the aisle to him there
CommentAuthorJane
Looked at about 10 brochures but only looked at one in real life, fitted the budget, good menu, right size and local - one happy B2B!
CommentAuthorJill
Our venue was always the one I wanted, OH wasnt too fussed as long as the price was right for us. He was blown away when he seen it though :) bonus! Did look at another couple of brochures local to our home but went for the original x

We only looked at one and fell in love with it instantly when we went to look round so we paid the full cost there and then to secure it ;-) (this was a week after we got engaged lol).
CommentAuthorTinsel
We did lots of research online.
We downloaded a list of all the venues in Essex, Kent and London and then viewed their websites. From this we colour-coded ones that a) matched our taste, b) were within our budget and c) offered the services we wanted (i.e. exclusive use of the venue); red for no, yellow for maybe, green for yes. Sad, I know, but we then narrowed it down to about eight and had seen three before we went to our venue. It was pi$$ing down with rain and I fell in love with it straight away. We didn't see any other venues after that.
