It's Wedding Wednesday, which means something wedding related must be sorted out, today its tables/chairs in the venue. I'm having 10 on the top table so that leaves 65 places. I worked out if i do 4 tables of 10 people, 1 table of 9 and 2 tables of 8, this makes 7 tables.
BUT .... :) i could lower my costs if the 6Ft (72") tables seat more than 10? Say 11, then 6 tables of 11 people = 66. Anyone sat around one of these sized tables and know how squashed/roomy they were?

Also another question relating to seating, i want my mum and dad on top table, they're divorced but get along better now than they ever have, problem is my dad remarried (9 weeks after meeting her eeeek) Is it ok to seat the new wife with my brother and SIL, and have my dad on top table. I'm having her daughter as one of my FG's so she would be sat with the new wife too? Were in a position where we know that everyone invited is coming (only a maybe on 4 guests as they live in Oz) So getting the seating plan out of the way now is going to save me stress later LOL! xxx

I would never seat more than 8 adults at them tbh... The only reason I'm giving in to have 9 on 3of them is because half of each table is made up of kids so they dont need as much room... xxx

I would have to disagree, A wedding in the past that i was involved in, the really large tables were supposed to fit 12 adults, I think the largest table had 10, the smallest had 7 but with 10 there was plenty of room! with 7 that table looked rather bare tbh.
Regarding your step-mum & her daughter, I cant see how there should be any problem, its not about what they want, its what you want that counts

If it were me? Stick with what you already have. Don't go for any more tables, as it will increase the costs for the wine (assuming you're putting bottles on each table of course).
But, playing devil's advocate here, you could if possible, increase your top table by one, and have 64 guests, eight per table Assuming the logistics (people getting on, partners, etc) are OK.

Thanks everyone, im going to stick with the 4x10 - 2x8 and 1x9. I have seen it set up for 10 and it looked plenty of room, but we never sat down and gave it a try for elbow room. We live pretty close to the venue so i may call in on sunday an have a look while they're set up for sunday lunches. Only 5 kids during the day so ill put them and their parents on the 10's. I thought about that Clive, but it's an odd number on one side and it would drive me mad lol.)

I was at a wedding last weekend and they were all round tables seating 10 and we had plenty of room :)

6ft tables will seat ten, but it will be slightly cramped - our venue advised going for eight or nine on six foot tables xx
