hi, do you mean for the evening buffet? for the sit down meal you cater for ow many you have invited. For the evening buffet they usually say 80% of your total numbers as not everyone may eat, especially the people who ate earilier on.

we arent going by % as our venue wants £10 per head and have 250 for the evening, plus we have a chocolate fountain which will fill people up, so we have worked out our finances and have told our venue an amount that we can afford for some food to be laid out, refuse to spend to much as the food will only be out for 2 hours. we are putting a note in the evening invites stating that there will be some food but please eat before u come as there will not be loads of food xx

plus if the venue gets funny about it just tell them u wont have any evening food then, its not a law to have it see how they like it. thats what i have told our venue they either put food out for £500 or nothing so its their choice they can either have another £500 or nothing xx

When doing a buffet they reckon you should cater for 70/75% of the people coming which is normally what I do however I spoke with my venue an asked how many people i should cater for and they said about 90 and thats for a guest list of 150 so thats what i'm going with xx

i just refuse point blank to fork out a small fortune on food for the evening, when most of it will get wasted as not everybody will eat, so would rather there isnt enough for everybody than have loads of food and money wasted, plus we have the fountain and the wedding cake so there will be plenty. we where going to pay £1000 but when they told us its only out for 2 hours i said sod that and halfed the amount xx
