hiya when me and my parnter do get married we have been thinking moreliy me thinking how many bridemaids can u have at a wedding ???? because of the famliy i got like propper big, but i dnt wont to upset my sister if i dnt ask her cuz i know how i wont to ask its just i dnt know how meny plz help jess x

Hi, Try not to panic! You can have as many as you want! A few years ago my anutie got married and she felt obliged to have all her neices (including me) as her bridesmaids, which she did! plus she had 2 best friends that she wanted to be maid of honour, so she had both of them for that, plus my uncle had 2 best men! so all in all there were 2 maid of honours and then 3 bigger bridesmaids, 3 middle bridesmaids in younger outfits and then a little flower girl, plus various ushers and a page boy. SO that was a big bridal party. I am having 3 (big) bridesmaids my sister and 2 friends and a 13 year old bridesmaid (close family friend) and a little flower girl who will be about 3, so cute! another family friend. Gah! I always said I wouldn't go over the top and my wedding would be a small understated affair - now I appear to have a maid of honour (my best friend) and 5 bridesmaids (my other two closest friends and my 3 sisters - 23, 16 and 13). what is a girl to to? my main concern is the cost of dressing them all. I'm thinking of being really mean and saying they can either have me pay for their outfits and I will sell them again afterwards, or if they want to keep them they will have to put some money towards them. is this fair? costs are spiralling! Hi Jessabell I am having 6 bridesmaids and like yourself cost is an issue. My bridemaids are all paying for their own dresses and shoes but I am paying for the jewellery, make up and hair appts. When we purchased the dresses I bargained with the shop and got a 10% discount and got the alterations thrown in for free as we wanted 6 dresses. Be a bit cheeky, you have nothing to lose. The dresses have cost the girls £108 each which I don't think is bad at all as when my friend got married the dresses cost us £225 each!!!!

Also what you have suggested about you selling the dresses afterwards is perfectly fair. If you paid for them then it is OK. They should understand how expensive weddings are and how you may need to reclaim some of the costs back. If they like them that much, they can be the ones who buy them from you. x

wow that's some big wedding parties! I'm only having one! I have a lot of girl friends who were on the shortlist but only one of them has truly been there for me and hasn't been forcing the decision on me (quite a few dropped hints about when I'd be asking them the cheeky buggers!). Plus, less stuff to buy! xx

Cost is a huge factor for many brides, which has to be considered carefully. My sister didn't consider this, and in spite of my mum telling her to go with only two bridesmaids, she went and asked a third! This not only meant the extra dress, hair, makeup and gift, but also an additional car and groomsman. We worked it all out, and for her to have the third bridesmaid cost an extra £900!

I know that a lot of brides do ask their BMs to pay for their own dresses, but I don't think I could ask anyone to do that!

Im having 4 bridesmaids, not having any flower girls or page boys, I think h2b is just having 3 groomsmen and also his best man

Lmao, I didn't thing my wedding party was that big but now it seems massive in comparison!

I have my 6 adult bridesmaids, 5 flower girls and 4 page boys, also H2B is having 2 best men and 4 groomsmen,

Plus I'll have my brother who's giving me away (my dad passed away a long time ago)
and I'm considering H2B's 2sisters as BM's as well just to rack the total up

Including hubby and I that'll mean a wedding party of 25 without parents!!

I'm having 3, my friend is MOH and my 2 daughters who are 13 & 10 are bridesmaids. I'm also having my son as page boy ( he'll be 31/2 when we get married in 2013)

I am having 2 Maid of honours (my sister and my best friend) and two bridesmaids. My partner wants me to have both his sisters as bridesmaids...but we are going to have to see about that! Then we are having two page boys (my cousin and my fiances nephew) and five ushers...its all spiralling!!
