i dunno it's from tesco wines online so i dont think so. we're having a cash bar in the evening so we only have to provide for the toast and meal.

Definitely would provide half a bottle per person, and then enough to cover a glass each for the toast

We were advised around half a bottle each if it is just for the meal/toast.

I'd go half a bottle - not everyone drinks wine and I think that's plenty,me specially if there's a cash bar too x

You have to remember as well, that some guests might not touch the wine (or just for the toast) as they prefer buying their own at the bar and drinking it with the meal.

haha! well im providing 4 bottles per table at the meal 2 of red and two of white (i know what robs family are like as when we went to his cousins wedding they took all the extra bottles and drank them at the disco haha) and a jug of orange juice. then i am giving the venue a really scrummy recipie for non alcoholic punch which is soooo good i may end up drinking it all haha. then i have factored in a glass each for the toast.

Well if you can do it, go for it - Only reason we arent providing more is we get a glass in our package, then we're buying 10 bottles of wine and 9 bottles of fizzy at a cost of £15 a bottle for wine and £19 a bottle for fizzy. The hotel charge a corkage fee of £15 otyherwise we'd be doing the same as you and buying our own in cases!

wow! i thought my corkage was bad at 7.50! even with the corkage fee my wine is less than the 15.50 per bottle that our venue charge.

I work in catering, and we do weddings most weekends. So my advice is, we normally work and a bottle and half per person, over the day. So 72 is about right really.

But any spare you have left, you can keep for yourself anyway. But better to be on the safe side with allot of wine, instead of running out :)

Personally at our wedding we our having 2 bottles per table, if they want anymore there is a bar there and we are already paying for there food and entertainment even though we want them to have a good day celebrating with us im not paying for people to get sozzled!!! cant afford much more than that either!!

I'd rather have too much than too little. We've got jocks owned squaddies on both sides so we will probably get through tonnes of booze. If you buy the 72 bottles then it won't go to waste after the wedding. My mates got married on 4th August and they bought over 100 bottles. They've had parties every weekend since they got back from honeymoon and we just finished it off on Sunday. I have been a supportive friend at this time and helped them as much as I could, even if it has meant terrible hangovers. Thats just the kind of friend I am.

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!

Generally, as others have said, it's half a bottle of wine per person, plus a glass of bubbly each for the toast. Remember some people won't drink so you will need some soft drinks.

Most places do say half a bottle per guest......then you have to think that some guests (like me hehehe) dont drink wine so cutting that in half to 36 bottles will still be more then enough for 50 guests........especially if you have kids included in that total too

Personally we are NOT PROVIDING ANY ALCOHOL!
Every wedding we have been to nobody has really drunk the toast drink and its just been left on the tables.
So what we have decided is as its a November wedding when we have our photos guests will be treated to either hot chocolate with all the trimmings (if they want them) or milk n cookies (aimed at the kids but anyone can have) and thats it that the ONLY drinks we are providing free of charge (to them, costing me quite a bit tut) the rest will be a cash bar throughout the day!

Oh and jug's of ice water on the wedding breakfast tables

I feel like saying there is never such a thing as too much wine, but that might make me look like an alcoholic!! LOL! We are only providing two bottles per table of 10, one red and one white. They can buy the rest, it's cost enough money in the first place and there is a bar there.

Yeah we have a november wedding too hails! that hot choc idea is brilliant! oh no glitterfairy it doesnt make u sound like an alcoholic at all dont worry haha. We decided that we're having peach bellini at the drinks reception as it's not expensive and it tastes nom. but the toast is non alcholic. i do want your opinion on that actually girls how does this sound this is what the punch is made from:

    swedish strawberry cordial

    cream soda

    pink lemonade.

1 sprig of mint in each glass
