How many people are doing speeches at your reception and have you worked to a time limit per person or for overall speeches?

At present Steve's real dad and step dad want to give a speech, we have 2 best men to give a speech, Steve's speech, I wanted to say a few words and now my mum (in place of my dad) wants to make a speech too!!! Too many speeches i think unless I limit each person to a few minutes each and maybe have one best man do the toast and one do a speech. xxx

We have my godfather (bride's father) , best man and groom. Maybe me if I'm feeling brave. We haven't set a lime limit, but would assume more nore than ten minutes each, probably closer to five.

Were having groom best man fob (even thou I don't want him too but if I don't let him it will cause family rifts) there is no way I'll be making a speech... I hope to god I'm in the loo for the speeches as I hate them...

I don't want any speeches but h2b does but I just find them cringeworthy or really boring.... If we do have them then 2 mins each ... Then the toasts! But fingers crossed I can work on the no speeches !!

I think the usual is about 5 mins thou

Hmm I still think we have too many people wanting to do speeches. I thought it would be the other way around and we would have to bribe people to make a speech! I think we are going to give each person 2-3 minutes max, as we really don't want everyone falling asleep! xxx

FOB, H2B, BM. and that's it! I'm having my grandad and mum read out poems in during the service so that they're involved! :) I don't want to be more embarrassed then necessary on the day! :)

Well my H2B is having 2 best men, but I we are thinking of 1 doing a reading at the curch and then the ohter doing a speach, just so it dont drag on too long at the reception.
So we are going to just have the norm really, the bestman speach, father at the bride and also the grooms. Dont really plan on having a time limit for them. Just as long as they dont start to bore people. LOL
But at my uncles wedding last year, they also had the brids godfather do little spaech too. That was lovely. I dont think ti matters, its up to you. I do tend to drift off sometimes into a little world of my own but I really did like to listen to the speaches and thought they were all lovely. :)

I think you find that trying to talk for a full 10 minutes quite hard most people last max 5 minutes - sometime they just seem longer.
