My wedding is 31st july 2015 my dress and bridesmaid r fully paid i expected to be measured anytime from next mnth but theyve said jan?! (Its a romantica dress and im having it measured length also to dave on alterations :-) ) anyway i know 2 ppl getting married in may one dress is in store(same shop as mine they store them at no extra charge) and the other is at her house as they dnt store free of charge. Anyway theyve had them about a month.. is it just different designers etc or should my shop really be measuring abd ordering my dress sooner?

Im not overly worried they know what they are doing but seems to be cutting it fine to me.. "gives us a good 6-7mnth if we do it in jan" erm yes but it takes 4 or more to come in they told me and then alterations etc.. also bridesmaids they said feb to measure as again 4 mnth to come in and then alterations.

Just a bit worried n wondering what everyone else has done... but as i said not overly worried lol x

I think it differs from shop/designer.

I know people who ordered after me and have had first fitting already. I ordered in April and my dress still isn't in yet. But it's an American designer and I was told minimum 6 months. (Maggie sottero)

I'm sure the shop knows what they are doing, but even I get worried its not in when others have seen theirs.

It does vary from shop to shop, and whether you have bought a sample in sale for example so the dress is already there :)

I just keep tellin them its nt everyday i buy a wedding dress so i have no idea how it works haha like when i asked about measuring "do i get put in the dress as its measured length and i have an underskirt added extra" mind the owner did have to check but i felt dumb for asking and he said no u dont do this often its fine haha

I know theirs r definatly not sample sales they had to be measured and orderd just seems 2 mnths ahead and they work so much quicker july august being peak season i assumed theyd want to be ahead of what they r saying so they had plenty time. They know what they r doing i suppose haha :-) i shall try nt to worry tbh its probs being to impatiebt lol!
I also asked about being in dress cos dad wants to see it the owner said oh u can come up whenever to put the dress on lol
I know 1 girl whos dress is in she keeps going to put it on cos she cant wait till fittings etc and her wedding haha. I did say i wont be that bad and ill only try it when i HAVE to :-)

I need to try a dif underskirt tho to makw sure i picked the tight 1 as i did only try 1 but ill wait :-)

Thx :-) x jan it is hehe x

Ordered my dress at the beginning of October and they said it'll be in around April, maybe March if I'm lucky for my first fitting. Mines a Maggie dress. January is fine if you're getting married in July! I'm August and mine will be in 2/3 months after yours!

It depends on how fast the designer can make them. Some can have them done in 8 weeks, others take longer and about 6 months. My Maggie took about 6 months to be made.

If they are confident that they will have it in plenty of time and you trust them, then I wouldn't worry.

I personally would have trouble and question it constantly (just the kind of person I am!) and ask if I could order it now. I don't really like not being in control lol and would be paranoid it wouldnt be ready in time to have fittings. I'm not saying that to worry you mind, that's just me!

Generally it's 6-9 months but the shop ur getting urs from must be confident yours will come before then... January is the busiest month to buy a wedding dress...I think you should try and get in before then, as even made to measure dresses still need slight alterations x

I've not had an'ordering experience as I bought mine and took it home on the spray, but I would say wear something you'll be comfortable in (underwear wise). Also, I would shave my legs lol!
