not that i want my guests to starve but my ceremony in 11:30 TBC and the wedding breakfast wont be until around 4:15, is this too long to expect them to wait? I really have no room in the budget to supply anything in between

Oh honestly, Ive spent the last two years stressing about that exact thing. Theres at least two people I know who are very b*tchy and like to moan about everything.... but at the end of the day theyre at YOUR wedding so hey'll have to like it or lump it.

I worked myself up into such a stress about the whole thing it made me physically sick. Honestly you cant please everyone and if it doesnt suit your budget to feed them they'll just have to wait. Youre paying for them to have a meal in the first place.

I personally would expect to eat earlier if I was going to an 11.30 ceremony, so probably wouldn't eat much before I left home. I'd just try to tell as many people as possible that they won't be eating til 4.30 so to make sure they eat before they leave. Adults should be able to cope just fine (bar a few inevitable grumbles as like Steph said, you can't please everybody), and those with children would bring snacks with them anyway I presume.

Yes I was thinking that if Cermony was that early then woukd eat 2.30?

Do you have 2 different venues? Seems quite a big gap to me between the 2 so if you are not proving any food I woukd say to guests to eat before, take snacks as wedding breakfast will be at least 4.30

It's so hard to know what to do!

If you haven't already sent invites out , then maybe you could put an insert in with them, to advise the timings of the day, and that snacks would be available to purchase at the bar, at least that way, people will be aware of when they are likely to eat.

You might find some guests may bring there own snacks - especially if they have young children

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

I would also expect to eat earlier than this. If these are your times though you should state the times in the invite so everyone's prepared, people who wouldn't usually eat before the wedding can make sure they will and there shouldn't be a problem.

we were at a wedding earlier this year and they got married at noon and we didnt sit down to dinner until 5pm. no canapes etc by the time dinner was served we were all extremely hungry and had rather a lot of alcohol which resulted in a lot of empty plates and fuller tummies.

Do what you think is right for you but inform your guests of when dinner is expected. As a mother I would always take snacks to a wedding for our son just incase anyway but would maybe take a sandwich or something for him if i knew he wasnt gettinglunch and dinner was later than expected.

Hi yes the reason it will be that late is because there is a 45 minute drive between the church and the venue (we are providing coaches) there were no venues within my budget that were closer and could cater for my huge family so we had to compromise

I personally wouldn't expect food, it would be nice if it was there but if it wasn't I wouldn't think badly about it. We are getting married at 1 and the wedding breakfast is at 4.45ish, my oh didn't want to stretch our budget any further for food at the drinks reception but we have now changed our mind as it is a long time without food. My OH had originally suggested putting out bowls of popcorn, crisis, nuts etc nibbles things, maybe you could do that. Just to take the edge off and shouldn't be too expensive xx

thats not a bad idea :) thanks Leanne, I'll see if the venue minds is doing that. I've also requested a quote for a chip van to pull up and give out cones of chips but not sure how far I can stretch the budget!
