I'm getting married on January 2013. I have known which dress I like to choose, I want to purchase a dress from *******************.
I just want to know how long before your wedding did you start to look at wedding dresses? Am I too early now to prepare for everything?

i picked and paid the deposit on mine with 18 months to go i started looking as soon as i set the date but that was because i am really indecisive

most bridal shops need 6 months minimum to get the dress in time so start looking now!

I agree with weemindyxx I went in my first bridal shop 13 months in advance then thought maybee it was a bit to earlythen started back up in december and paid depoist then to get sale discount so I had mine brought 9 months before wedding.Had my measurments taken in march (six months before wedding) and now waiting for my dress to come in. due this month so that gives me 2 months to get an alterations done i would place your order now if you know the dress you want to allow them time to make it

I started looking in March / April 2011 and put the deposit down on my dress in May 2011. So thats 15 months before my wedding but when its THE ONE its THE ONE :) If you are certain thats the dress for you then go for it xx

I started looking in october last year, Found my dress in december. Orded to january it arrived at the end of may. But all dress shops are diffrent, I went in a few shops and they wanted up to 6months! Plus if you need any alterations have to allow extra time for that.
It all depends if you know what style your after, If i was you id be looking now x

My plan is to look pleeenty in advance but not rush into paying deposits - if you have the time then give yourself the space to change your mind! You'll see on here quite a few brides have a new favourite every few weeks/months lol though the other ladies are right, its best to order about 6months before, so you'll be looking at the end of next month maybe! x

Im going in 4 weeks time. I have put it off for long enough to get my body to a shape I like and I fly out to portugal next friday so will be tanned by the time I go. I really can't wait now. getting emotional thinking about it. My wedding is June 2013 and people have been giving me a hard time about waiting so long so if I were you I would get yourself booked in soon.

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!

I found and ordered my dress 16 months before the wedding - and the dress took 6 months to arrive. You're definitely not too early as it can take months for dresses to arrive at the shop once they've been ordered.

I would definitely start looking as soon as you can as most dress shops suggest you order your dress at least 6 months before you get married and some even say 9 months. I bought my dress in July 2011 and i am getting married in October xxx

Your defo not too early, i started about 18 months before n chose my first dress about a month later. Bridal shops can normally store your dress for you too once its arrived if you order or straight away if you choose a sample dress. But soon to be mrs mann is right, bridal shops do need usually about 6 months to getyour dress ordered and alterationsdone. Good luck n i hope you find the dress you want xx

About 8 months before I started to seriously look. If you do it to soon you will almost certainly see something else and then regret committing to soon. There are so many lovely dresses out there you'll be spoilt for choice, but try as many on as possible to see what style suits your shape, good luck with your search.

I started two days after we got engaged! Definitely not too soon to start trying, as you might find what you think you like is compltely different from what suits you! Go for it!! ;)
