just wondering as up until last night i thought it was the most important thing to htb but apparently not as he told me as long as the weddings paid for we can always have a honeymoon upto a couple of months after the wedding. i dont know if its because hes dying to get him the new blackberrry and me the new iphone in a couple of weeks and hes just trying to blag me into not asking for his share of the savings this month lol
so just wanted to see whos going when. idealy id want to go a couple of days after wedding to have a week just the 2 of us as newlyweds would be perfect.

we're hopefully going around Feb time, 1) because its hurricane season in October so dont really want go then, 2) cos we want use the vouchers and money we get at the wedding, and 3) we choose Feb as its valentines day, so extra special, didnt want go near my bday or h2bs bday which is either side of Feb.

We've always planned to fly out on the Tuesday after our wedding so we can pick up our marriage certificates from the registry office on the Monday and blag as many honeymoon freebies as possible.

However my favourite second cousin booked her wedding for two weeks after ours and I now have to choose whether to attend her wedding or continue with our honeymoon plans (three and a half weeks in South East Asia). I don't think it would really feel like a honeymoon if we went back to work in between.

I voted option 1 as we are going 2 days after the wedding. We really wanted to include the honeymoon in our celebrations and get some proper time to relax together after the wedding. Although we don't have kids and both work so its something we are fortunate to be able to do.

We are getting married in september and are going to Bath for a few days on the monday (a minimoon). We are also asking for contributions towards a honeymoon for wedding gifts so hopefully with that and saving after the wedding we can go away the following March (including my birthday). So I voted that we are waiting x

I just worry that it wouldn't feel like a honeymoon if you went back to work in between. Sure, it would be a fabulous holiday but not really a honeymoon. Does anyone else feel like that?

yes me specialsundae... partly to do with h2b work ... hes on call 24/7 even on holiday ... if he gets an emergency or a single phone call then they give him back a day in lieu....but at the wedding his work blackberry and laptop are not coming they are being left at home and as were going from the wedding to the airport they are staying at home .... so that it will be a honey moon and work are fine with that....so it will be amazing ... no phone calls haha (1st time ever) and will be even more special... where as if we did it another time ... hed have to take his work blackberry

I didn't vote because there wasnt an option i thought i fit in., We are having a honeymoon, however we're not going until about 10 days after the wedding for a couple of reasons, firstly it means we can chill after the wedding and pack etc, i dont think i could manage the stress of packing for a honeymoon before the wedding with everything else going on too and secondly we are waiting until half term to go as MIL is a teacher and it would be impossible for her to drop off my eldest at school and be at her school ready for when the children arrive so half term means she can look after both kids without work commitments.

well i haven't picked any yet as i'm not sure if we are having one or not! neither of us own passports so if we have one it'll have to be somewhere in the uk :D it all depends how much money we have saved up by july next yr and if ppl give us any for pressies. in my opinion i don't think its important to go straight away, do it when u have the time/money and u can be happy knowing your gonna have enough to take with ya. but for me i'm not bothered if we have one or not at least we are married :D
    hope this helps u

Ideally we would love to go straight on our honeymoon day after the wedding but because were getting married in july its peak prices so were going to see nearer the time if we can find a good deal like at lastminute.com and if we cant, then we will wait a couple of months xxx

We're having our wedding night and night after child free in the hotel. So that is our mini honeymoon. And then hopefully there will be enough money for a family holiday in the summer. I'm not bothered about a honeymoon as we're a family if we're on holiday then I don't think our kids shouldn't miss out. And with it being Christmas the week after anyway- will just make it special for us anyway!!

    :-)

None of them options for me.
We are getting married on the saturday and going on honeymoon on the monday. I am looking forward to a picnic and games of rounders and hide and seek with all my family the day after the wedding.
I dont think its a really important thing to go straight away, a lot of people dont. My cousin put off their honeymoon for a week after their wedding to spend time with all the family on the island at the same time as it was the first time in 10 yrs we were all over at the same time not for a funeral.

Wed on Friday, fly out Sunday. Will give us Saturday to spend with Family. Also some family around on Thursday night, so will haveThurs-Fri-Sat with family/ friends. Really looking forward to the wedding and the honeymoon. We will have enough money to pay for the honeymoon. Guests will contribute too, but we are not relying on that.

I wouldn't leave straight away, as we'll probably go long-haul and I can't think of much worse than a 10-hour flight just 24 hours after the wedding; I think I'd like to go about a week after the wedding, so we have time to recover and relax, and pack, get documents together, etc.

Well I'm a teacher and my H2B really wanted to get married in May, which cleary doesn't fall in the school holidays! So we're getting married 12th May next year and we're not going on honeymoon until the summer break because I can't get time off! On the plus side though it gives us longer to save and we're going to suggest that if anyone wants to give us a gift, we'd really appreciate some money towards the honeymoon. Its a bit rubbish though - I'm hoping we'll go somewhere for a few days in the half term a couple weeks after the wedding, otherwise it won't feel right I don't think.

We are going a year later for our aniversary. It will be a one off holiday of a life time. The reason for this is that, we wanted to enjoy the wedding and not have post wedding blues. This way we have got something to look forward to, when we wake up on the Monday, wishing that we could do it again x

We're very poor! So as wedding gifts we're asking people to donate money for our honeymoon/1st family holiday (we have a 14 month old daughter). So we'll probably do something like Butlins that our daughter can enjoy, depending on how much money we have!

I'm a Teaching Assistant so we're getting married in the summer holidays. We're travelling up to Gretna on the Friday, wedding on Saturday, back to Leeds on Sunday - then travelling over to Manchester Airport Monday afternoon, staying in a hotel and then flying out at 6am Tuesday. After all that we'll be ready for the honeymoon lol.

Tbh we'd planned to have a honeymoon a couple of days after the wedding because 1) my job and 2) h2b works for the nhs but has managed to get 4 weeks off work in August; and 3) we've always said that the honeymoon is just as important as the wedding as it gives us some proper time together, away from work and stresses once we're married.
