My venue have quoted me £55 to put ivory swagging down the bannister of the staircase, it's not a huge staircase 4.5m long. I've been looking on the internet and I can buy 25m of the material they use for around £10. I've seen the staircase with the swagging on and it doesnt look too difficult they just tie the ends to the top and bottom of the bannister and the material just drapes down. Am I being too ambitious here or do you reckon I could do it myself and save £45. i dont want to pay them that much money for something that might only take 20mins to do.

I don't think your being too ambitious, I would deffo give it a try especially if its gonna save u some money hun. Is the staircase at the venue just a normal straight one (if you know what I mean) If so you could always have a little practice on your staircase at home or something first, lol. Thats what i'd do anyway :) xx

yep I would get down there and have a look when they have another wedding on, and note down exactly how they have done it. And then just do it yourself!! Or even buy the stuff and give it to them to do. They cant charge you money for sticking something to a bannister surely!

I dont know they are trying to squeeze every penny they can get out of me, they are also very unhappy that I'm getting quotes for chair covers from other companies because they charge £4.50 each. The original wedding co-ordinator that was there when I booked was really helpful and said if I took my own stuff in like table decs etc they would put them up for me, she has since left and this other lady doesnt seem as helpful they even tried to screw me on prices for the meal etc as I didnt actually have anything in writing. I just told them either they honoured the prices agreed at the time of booking or I would go elsewhere, they have several other potential bookings from aquaintances of mine and I threatened to tell them all, so I dont think they like me very much. I.m pretty certain that someone coming to my wedding can help me with it my mum and sister are quite arty and good with stuff like this.

probably a good idea to ask them first then cause if not and you decide you 100% want it it's gonna end up costing £65 :(
