I have been looking at venues for the wedding as we want to have the whole day in the one place.
Each venue I look at I fall more in love with than the last one the only problem is each one gets further and further away from home.

The first venue is about 15 mins away
The second is about 20-25 mins away
The third is 40 mins away

Is this too long to ask people to travel?

Definately not. Some people travel for hours to weddings, I'd go with the venue you want and not worry about your guests - as long as its within reason then it should be ok :-) x

I would say an hour max from where you live, but people will travel further if accommodation is affordable! There shouldn't be any problem if you are having the whole day in one place xxx

Accommodation is provided by 2 of thes venue on site at a reduced rate the other has a deal with a nearby hotel.
All my friends and family live within 10mins of me. So max travel time would be for night guests 80 min round trip.

It's definitely not too far!! We're in Leeds and got married in Gretna Green. We travelled up there the day before, along with some of the wedding party/guests - but we had guests travelling there on the day of the wedding as well.

Our venue is half hour away from our house BUT we decided to go for it anyway because 8-10 guests will be traveling from elsewhere anyway so we thought why not lol

If it's the venue for you then go for it your guests will travel because they will want to be there for you and to share in your day

This was something that really bothered me when we were looking which is why we wanted to get married somewhere that we could have our reception at as well. I would say no more than about 45 minutes away, but would also consider maybe putting on a coach for them there and back.

We are asking some of our guests to travel 120 miles and pay for hotels so if they want to come they will do it.

I went to a wedding in October and was 30 minutes to the church then a further 40 minutes to the recpetion and alot of travelling in one day but its what the couple wanted so you just do it xxx

People will travel to where the wedding is no matter how far the distance. I have guests travelling from Australia and America. The furthest anyone is travelling on the day is from Southampton so a good 3 and a half hour drive from our venue. Also had a friend looking to come from Singapore for the day as he is being best man at another wedding the following day in Singapore but because of the time difference and travelling time cannot make ours.

Ours is an hour (maybe a bit more) from most of our guests, but some are travelling several hours to come. But the accomodation is at a good rate and there's a travelodge down the road too. People who want to be there will and those who dont will use any excuse, so go for whatever is going to make your day right for you

I'd say it doesn't matter how long or far. I've been to weddings that are a 2 hour drive away and it was like that for most of the guests! Ours is just under an hour for most of our guests but I have people (family) flying 13 hours to get to England for the wedding! I've also travelled all the way to Malaysia for weddings so 40 mins is fine hun xx

We have guests coming from Japan, Thailand and America and they're all being holed up with relatives. Mine and my H2Bs friends live quite a distance from each other, so we were never going to get everyone close. Most have at least an hours drive and they are staying in a hotel over night.

40 minutes is nothing at all! Most of the people who came to our wedding were at least an hour away ... infact we live 90 minutes away from where we got married! The farthest I've gone for a wedding was 6000 miles, and I've only been to one wedding which was less than 30 minutes drive xx
