Hi girls, its been a while, I tain a little break from planning but with the wedding now being next year I'm bk on it again. My venue is all booked and I love it, but I'm now stuck, I have started looking in to photographers and my cake and flowers, I'm seeing so Many pictures of things I love but how do I even start to narrow these people down? :)

I'd go by local reviews if you can get any.

Go to tastings for cakes, meet photographers and have consultations with florists but above anything else, DON'T book without tasting or meeting them or you could be in for a nasty surprise on your wedding day which I'm sure you don't want! x

Have you tried a wedding faire? I went to one when I was MoH for my besty a few years back and we did a ton of cake tasting and got a lot of ideas. Because it was in our area we got to see local suppliers too, there's lots of offers too. If I remember correctly she got free makeup when signing up with a big department store registry. We had a blast and got a free glass of fizz

Wedding fairs are good, and talk to people, if you have a good rapore with them, this usually seals the deal ;) you need to be able to be comfortable with the people, this is a good sign of a good attentive vendor x

Reviews and word of mouth I've found to be good, also spend time with the suppliers as you will need to build a relationship with them. X

Agree with other comments, word of mouth and reviews count for so much. If I could do it all again, I wouldn't have used our venues recommended DJ though. Stick to suppliers recommended by brides & grooms and not by venues, as they are sometimes (not all the time) in financial cahoots.

Thankfully we don't have to worry about sorting a photographer as my dad is doing this for us, but I think it's so important to meet with a photographer in person so you can see what they're really about and so you can view their work. I think it's imporat for you to be on the same wavelength and there ae so many different styles of photography you really want someone who is going to give you the perfect shots that you want.

As for cake and flower suppliers, I have been speaking to suppliers over fb and although it's not face to face, you get a really good idea of what they are like as people which might put you off them or make you want to trust them. I'm speaking to a lady who makes artificial bouquets now and she is the nicest lady and has loads of pictures of her work and great reviews which makes her seem really trustworthy in my eyes.

If you find loads of pictures that you like and can't decide between them, don't be afraid to ask someone to create something completely new and bespoke to for you, incorporating all the elements that you love.. Like for a cake for example x

We are going on a lot of local recommendations, a friend recommended the invite lady to us (turns out we knew her husband anyway!) and she recommended a photographer to us. Finding people that way is proving to be quite useful :)

My dad isn't doing the photography himself as would be too much what with him walking me down the aisle etc. (I don't think he is that talented to be in 2 places at once hehe), but straight away he really wanted to organise it for us, which I am sooo grateful for as I see so many people struggle to choose a photographer. I trust my dad completely as love his photography and know he would pick someone similar to himself! It's such a personal thing it's a massive help if you know someone already x

i chose our family photographer she's taken fantastic photos of my little one when he was born for his birthday (a cake smash wish was just so adorable) and some as a family too oh and also for xmas cards too so i already feel comfortable with her and know she does fantastic work we are paying the price for it as could have got it for half the price with someone else but its safer to go someone you know and trust especially when it comes to photos xxx
