Hi slightly nervous about walking down the aisle as my grandad cant always see properly and im petrified he will stand on my dress and it rip or worse since hes 70, him fall over. Whats the best way to walk down the aisle so this is not an issue? attached is dress to refresh memories... its quite big which is where the problem is. H2B hasnt seen the dress but he is registered as blind too due to tunnel vision and all three of us are kind of worried about getting around.

Firstly your dress is stunning and secondly I know you said your grandad is old and can't see properly but i'm sure it'll be fine if you just take it slowly and i'm sure he'll be wanting to make you proud too. As for him falling over, i'm sure with you supporting him holding his arm too everything will turn out fine. x

Thanks hun. Just seen on four weddings that the bride and father walked down with arms slightly out. Maybe i could walk down the aisle with my grandad like this. It looks more formal which im not sure about, but it may give him a little more space? hes started getting botox on his eyes... not for cosmetic reasons as the doses are small, just to try to keep them open so hopefully this will mean he worries less as he will be able to see that bit better. h2b has accepted hes bound to stand on it bless but will try and make sure that he dances etc in socks instead of shoes just incase awwwww.

yes but its the width im concerned about of the dress itself... grandad is worried about walking side by side... he doesnt know the dress itself but has been given a vague idea when I had to stash the hoop there

The dress doesn't touch the floor so they will find it very hard to actually stand on it if they are in front of you or at the side of you. The only problem really is if they are at the back of you. Maybe make sure that your grandad is on the right side to go and sit down without having to cross over you when he goes to give you away?

I'm not sure which side they are meant to stand either but I'm going to have my MOH on the side that she is going to sit down at. (not decided who is going where yet) We are not having bride and grooms side. Everyone sits both sides and fills out the room evenly.

The father walks to the bride's right. In case you don't know, here's the drill: They come down the aisle with the bride's right hand on her father's arm or hand. If it's the hand it's on the back of his hand which is held slightly elevated, palm down. When they arrive at the altar the groom, who is waiting to one side at the place before the altar (on the right) waits until they stop. The groom steps forward when the father extends his right hand and they shake hands. The father then takes his right hand and gently lifts the bride's hand from his hand or arm and places it on the groom's left hand which he extends. The father then steps back and then to the left side behind the bride. The groom steps forward and half turns to take the place of the father of the bride. If he can do this without tears in his eyes, he's a tougher man than I.

Just got that off google but do whatever suits you.

Could you have a practise with your grandad with you wearing the dress just so he can get an idea of the width of the dress etc? Even taking the hoop to the venue where the aisle is so you can see how much room you have?
Yes I am making our invites and glad you like them!!!

lmao i don't mind suffering with wine flu, mine seems to think that having a cold mean's his hands don't work anymore eg washing up, helping take the washing in, how convenient. When we have a bad cold though they think we're still superwoman lol x
