so I have a problem that I really need some advice on. I have 2 cousins on my dad's side of the family, when I sent out save the dates over a year ago both were single. however now they both have partners 1 who has got engaged at xmas and is getting married in september. the other has just bought a new house with his new gf. My issue is that when I sent out save the dates I had numbers of 68 (total max for room I want) and almost everyone has verbally confirmed even though my invites havent gone out yet!!!! How do I word my invites to them to invite my cousin to the day and their partner to join them for the evening reception?? I dont want to cause offence and if i have anyone who rsvp's no then they are first in line to get bumped up to all day.
please help. xx

I would tell them over the phone before the invites are sent out. This way you can also easily explain that if anyone says no they will be put on for the day aswell xxx

I agree with Linzi as even though many have verbally said yes to the save the date, once the invites go out they might say no. Give their partners first in line if people drop out in the hope that two do!
a'd say invite partners for night time but if anyone does pull out of the day then invite partners then
yay soon 2 be Lady Jane Bradbury

We had the exact same problem and I just rang people and explained the situation. Everyone was fine, apart from one person but you can't please everyone :)

invite just the cousins with a note saying that numbers are full but if anyone cancels then they are first in line to be able to bring their partners :)

i agree i would just speak to ur cousins and explain how when u sent save the dates u didnt realise they both had partners and unfortunately u are to ur max on day time numbers unless any1 drops out but even though at the moment it isnt possible for them to be there during the day there partners are more then welcome to the evening reception xxx

Yea definitely best to explain to them to avoid upset xx

I would explain the situation that you are in and you might find that they might only want to come to the reception only with there new partners?
