    hi i was divorced 19 years ago and i need a copy of my decree absolute for the minister to let us get married in the church. Does anybody know how i get a copy of it thanks

    the courthouse that dealt with your divorce should be able to get you a copy

    solicitors only keep records for 6 years so they wont have it

    just go to the court where it was issued .....if possible go with as much details as you can , date both names case number ......this just makes it quicker but if you only know the month and the year they can still do it ... it will cost you about £40 ..

    H2b had to do it a couple of years ago ......just to make sure it had actually gone through as he never had his copy

    the solicitors only keep them for 5 yrs you would have to try the court where it was filed. i have mind under lock and key coz i knew i'd need it one day lmfao :0) xx

    I had the same problem.. I got Divoriced in 1999.. any my solictor still had a copy... They sent it me and the Registras were happy with that... if I had have gone to the court they were going to charge me for the pleasure...

    I really should have been more organised and have that sort of document filed somewhere safe... Opps!

    i think mine was in a bag which my father threw out when i moved back to my town he was trying to help me tidy up i think

    I had the same problem. If you have anything with your case number on that's all you need. You apply to the court quoting your case number and a cheque for £5 and they will send it to you. If your court is within driving distance you should be able to go there get it there and then. If you don't have your case number its a different ballgame cos they have to do a search and it cost £45 :o( which is rubbish. Every piece of paper from your divorce, letters etc will have the case number on it, that's how I found mine xxx
