I have not stressed or worried about booking anything for the wedding not even my dress but I am pulling my hair out over the photographer and who to choose.

I have looked at one but she did both my friends and although she is really good I am worried about same poses Tec. So I want someone different but I have information coming out if my ears and I have no idea who to book.

has anyone else had the same problem and if so what did you do?

Hmm, if you know for a fact she's good then I wouldn't rule her out straight away, I would meet for a chat and say you really like her stuff but could she do a slightly different style for your wedding or something along those lines.

We just trawled the internet. Got recommendations from the hotel for photographers nearby, but in the end chose one who's website and portfolios we liked. Then it turned out she had done a friend of a friend's wedding and my friend said she was fab, so fingers crossed we've struck lucky.

I think you need to meet with all the ones you like tell them what sort of thing your wanting and look at there work, every wedding is different and if you don't want certain poses or styles then just say. we went with ones that could offer us a photo and video package but we did look at lots that offered just the one service too. Has we wanted to make sure we got the right people for us, we booked a lovely man and wife team pictures were amazing video was exactly what we wanted and they offered us a great deal for having both and the icing on the cake we thought these were people we wouldn't mind being part of our wedding day. when the came round they should us over a hundred photos and 3 different album styles with different wedding in as well as mini albums parents albums and a album which was made up of wedding guest pictures and little handwritten notes they left for the couple on the day (we loved this) it might a great guest book and was so different from the usual wishing tress and normal signing books. from all the books and photos we looked at not one wedding looked the same as the last x

We were very lucky as someone that my Dad works with, her son is a Photographer. We didn't immediately decide just because it was someone my Dad knows to have him be our Photographer though, we went to one of his exhibitions as he does Wedding and Non-Wedding Photography to see some of his work and to be introduced to him by my Dad and see if our date was available.

A month after, we then went to him to look at his Wedding work, discuss what he does, prices, how many photographers he brings with him etc. During this time though we were researching other photographers but just by looking online, we knew that Jons' work was what we were looking for.

My advice would 100% meet with all of the ones that catch your eye, inc this one that did your friends wedding.. We met with three and the first two I just didn't click with.. One was a husband and wife and they were very forceful afterwards with emailing me alot.. I instantly clicked with the one we chose just emailing her to arrange a meeting.. We emailed for a couple hours after that wasn't about photography lol.. When I met her it just confirmed how much I liked her.. Her work is exactly what I imagined I'd want my wedding to look like in an album..

When you arrange the meeting make sure you ask them to bring FULL beginning to end albums and not just 'Best of' albums that alot of them have ! Xxx

With 9 months out you may be limited by photographers availability. If I was under the same timeline I would use the wedding photography quote service available on this site, a general internet search, and get recommendations from friends/family/coworkers for photographers. I would then contact any that you like for their availability. Once you know which photographers are available for your date you'll be able to start narrowing them down.
As for the photographer you've looked at, did you have a look at her portfolio? That would be a good way to find out if she uses the same poses again & again.

I think you have to gel with them and feel confortable, we have narrowed it down to our usual family portrait photographer or a family friend who did ohs auntys wedding, all depends on price now!

I think its all about how comfortable you feel with someone. A lot of the photographers we met at wedding fayres I just knew I wouldn't be comfortable with them for our wedding day. You also have to look at the packages because a lot of people charge extra for anything past the wedding breakfast and also charge more to include a second photographer. I also noticed that a lot of these expensive photographers also don't include a wedding DVD. We were lucky and one of our local photographers included two photographers, a 100 pg. storybook album, a DVD and coverage from bridal prep to first dance all for a really good price.

It also depends on how much you have to spend and what's important to you. To me having two photographers was really important as I wanted snaps of me getting ready plus my H2B before the ceremony. I was willing to pay a bit more for this as I knew it was something I really wanted! Good luck finding someone xx

Ours was recommeneded by our caterer, at first i just went along with saying I'd have a look, but decided to one day look at her website, after people giving quotes from here 's communication dwindled.

Anyway, I am so glad we did, I really liked her style and just knew I wanted her, just the way she wrote up her portfolio made me instantly like her, a few emails later and we were bouncing ideas off each other and negotiated a 10% discount!

Beautiful pics...so excited for her to do my wedding!

I met this one guy at my venues wedding fayre which was the one they recomend , and the second i met him i was like no! He was really old , stiff, and miserable looking! He looked like he did not want to be there, which maybe there was a reason, but its no way to get new clients, the 2 we are looking at are full of energy, excited about our theme and keen! Before I make final dedicion I want to meet there 2nd photographer ( which is fairly often their OH) and see there work and what vibe off of them!

ours was recommended but only after we had met him. We knew as soon as we sat down to talk to him that he was the right one for us.
