So we provisionally decided on the 14th May 2016 as this gives us time to save and I like how the numbers work.
But the more I think about it the more I want it to be on the 15th of a month as we met and got engaged both on the 15th (18 months apart). However the only 15th that would work for a variety of reasons would be the 15th August 2015, which gives us a lot less time to save!
How did you decide on a date and were there any budget issues that meant you had to go with something else?

    Thanks
    Jenn

Does the date really matter that much?? We picked one that was available and around about the time we wanted to get married. Haven't even thought about how the numbers go together haha. The date might not mean anything to you now, but it will mean everything to you after the wedding regardless of how nice the numbers sound together.

I chose 20th June because it would be our 8 year anniversary, that way he wont forget! and 2015 he chose as its far enough away to plan, but close enough, as we have family members we want to attend but might not make it any longer after that.

We choose the end of June. It's not school holiday season so we figured most people would be able to make it, but more crucially given the ages of my 2 children (16 and 17) all their exams would be over. The actual date and configuration of numbers didn't cross my mind. And we have had only 2 decline for the day out of 60 and about 5 for the evening out of 140 so our thinking was right. Kinda wish we'd made it smack bang in the middle of August now lol as we wouldn't have to pay for as many as loads would be away!! My heart is in my mouth as I'm writing this it's far too close for comfort!!

We firstly went for 2016 so we had time to save, then I realised that my dad's birthday was on a Saturday in 2015 so we decided to half the budget and go for 2015. The date meant more to me then the massive wedding as my dad passed away. I agree with the other ladies whatever date you choose will be special to you :)

This took ages for us to decide! I wanted a May wedding as I like the spring and love the idea of a May wedding. But my oh wanted a summer wedding he wanted June, July or August. When we found our dream venu we asked what dates they have, the only date that suited us both was 2nd August 2015. So that how we chose. Xx

We knew our date before we even got engaged - it'll be our 10th anniversary. The date was a very contentious issue as it falls on a Thursday and isn't half term but we gave most people 2 years notice and so far out of 120 guests only 1 couple has said they can't make it because they've already allocated all their annual leave for the year (they're friends of OH's parents so didn't get the 2 year notice and we're not all that upset they won't be there). A lot of people (including my Mum and a BM) kept trying to convince me to move the date to the Saturday because the date doesn't matter and its more convenient for everyone else to which I basically told them the date means a lot to us now and will continue to mean a lot to us and if people find celebrating our love too inconvenient then they're welcome to decline the invitation and save us the cost of feeding them/supplying them with drinks for the day. Thankfully the budget was never an issue for us though.
If it means something to you then go ahead and get married on the 15th - you'll have over a year from today to save/pay deposits/make things which is more than enough time to arrange a lovely day.

It's our 10 year anniversary of meeting! Luckily it's a Saturday.

I wanted to get married this year, but there are 3 other family weddings and I couldn't jinx it to be four, as then there would have to be a funeral. (Superstitious...who me).

We needed to our wedding to be in school holidays but I didn't want to wait until summer as if felt really far away, so chose to go for Easter and got the first Saturday (not the day after but in the first week) so we can have a minimoon and big honeymoon in summer as OH was adamant on having two weeks lol. So we get married Easter weekend! Now that it's mine it feels like a perfect date and I like that's it's 4/4/15 :)

We both agreed that we wanted to get married in May as it was the beginning of summer and we got engaged in May last year. We weren't stuck to a specific date so when we found our venue we asked what Saturdays in May 2015 were free then contacted the church and booked the one that went together. We wanted to wait 2 years so that we had plenty of time to plan and save.

We knew we wanted end of July or early August as we both work in schools and wanted our honeymoon not long after the wedding, we also wanted a Saturday (might have gone Friday or Sunday but the venue we've booked is the same price for Friday-Sunday weddings so didn't see the point) so just checked which dates were free and then booked one of them

We went for 25th April 2015. Not really sure why, but we volunteer for a greyhound walking charity and their annual show is usually the last weekend in April, so that may be why we chose that date (thankfully they moved it to August a couple of years ago because of rubbish weather so it doesn't clash). We wanted to get married this year but H2B's sister got married at the beginning of April and we didn't want to rain on their parade. The weather can be a little unpredictable in April so we have everything crossed that it doesn't rain!

A friend of mine has set her date for her and her H2B's 5th anniversary in May 2016 :o)

We got engaged on 9/3/12, we wanted a summer wedding in the school holidays so that we could honeymoon straight after so opted for 9/8/14 - one year would not have been enough time for us to save and plan long distance - wedding is in Lancashire and we live in Sussex.

we knew we wanted to get married before my 40th in November and wanted to avoid high season of the summer so thought October would work. Started looking at the calendar and as soon as we saw the 4th was a Saturday this year we knew that had to be our date. Oct 4th was my younger brother's birthday, he died 20 years ago so by having the wedding on his birthday its like he's part of the day

Ohhhh, shame you didn't stick with your original 15th August date as then you could have been my wedding date but Donna's not a bad lass ;)

When we were talking about weddings... We jokingly said if we got to 40 then we'd get married, then we got together and provisionally said 2019.. Then several dates in 2017.. Then several in 2016 and then we finally settled on 15th August 2015 as I'm a bit persnickety about numbers (a bit OCD about it actually!) so it had to be just so but the reason we had so was that we just couldn't wait that long. We want to be married and planning for a wedding years in advance would kill hence the indecisiveness!! ;) xx

we are getting married on the 24th july 2015 as its the date we became a couple (6 years to the day) it also gives us plenty of time to save and its in the school summer holidays so its easier for the children attending the wedding and for the adults attending whos children wont be to get a babysitter, but it doesnt matter what the date is or if it means nothing because once your married that date will mean something.

We were at a family engagement party the month before he proposed and I was talking to OH's mum about when we were likely to get married. I always liked the idea of getting married in May and OH's parents anniversary is 28th May. Just so happened that 28th May 2016 was a Saturday so that is the date we're getting married! It is also OH's parents 28th wedding anniversary and 28 is their family "lucky number" xx

We got together on 14th March and really wanted our wedding to be on our anniversary, but the only year that 14th March was a Saturday was 2015, which wouldn't have given us enough time to save, plus March would probably be cold lol! So we decided on 14th as a date and had a look which month the 14th was a Saturday in 2016, which was May and we thought a spring wedding would be lovely :) Not much to it really haha!

We knew we'd like to have a summer wedding but were prepared to compromise on this as we didn't think it would be affordable, so we were fully expecting to have an early autumn/late spring wedding. We were pleasantly surprised to find the cost of having a summer wedding wasn't that much more compared to other times of the year so we just went for it (this was before we knew my parents wanted to split the venue cost between them). We weren't fussed what date we had really... we decided June would be nice and knew we definitely wanted to get married on a Saturday if able (although would have considered a Friday). They still had all the Saturdays in June free at the time so we just went with the 18th as it had the nicest ring to it!

I wanted a winter wedding in early December but got vetoed by hubby, mum, dad, my sister and my best mate, so basically everyone who means something to me so that put an end to my ideas of a cosy romantic winter wedding with roaring log fires etc.

So everyone thought though that May was a good time to get married and the only Saturday the church had left available in 2013 when we were booking in February 2012 was the 11th so that decided it for us.

I am one of those brides that wanted some sort of pattern for the date, both to make it memorable, and because I've always liked dates with patterns in. OH eagerly agreed since, as a mathematician, he likes patterns too.

We decided on 2017 as my sister is getting married in August next year and we didn't want to shoehorn in before her.

Were originally thinking 17/6/17 but there was something about the date that niggled me, and then I realised it was my ex's birthday! >_>' Wasn't keen on that after so had a look at other dates for Saturdays in 2017 and decided on 1/7/17.

Fingers crossed we can book the church (once we finally track down the vicar!). Dunno what we'd do if we had to change it.
