I am planning on asking my sister to be my bridesmaid but want to do it in a fun/surprise way.

How did you ask your bridesmaids?

Any ideas of a fun way to do it?

I sent mine cards through the post, they weren't expecting them so was a nice surprise for them to open them. They were a bit silly as well, said something like "I need someone to hold my dress whilst I pee" on the front lol.

Thanks Flossie, I am planning to ask my sister in person as it will be the first time she sees the ring and get's told the date/venue has been set.

I had a look at different things on p1nt3r3st but wasn't overly keen on any of them so just thought I would ask here to see if anyone had any different ideas :)

I told mines to close their eyes and handed them plaques I had made and told them to open their eyes at the same time. The plaques said "I can't say I do without you (name) will you be my bridesmaid?" Then me and OH name and date of wedding at bottom

    That's Sweet Danielle.

I just asked mine... wasn't particularly special but it was a couple of days after we got engaged and I didn't even realise there were things out there to make it special!

I just asked 3 of mine because I was so excited haha but I decided to add an extra one a few months ago and I went round to her house and without saying anything handed her a card that said 'plan with me, laugh with me, cry with me, stand with me' on the front and will you be my bridesmaid inside, she read it, cried and jumped up to hug me haha xx

I had cards made up in the colours we will have for the wedding. Neither Bridesmaids expected it and as they took the card out the envelope both ended up in tears, good tears I think Lol!! For the Flower Girl I had a wand made up again to tie with the theme of our wedding. It was nice to give them something they could keep too.

I asked J's granddaughter over Skype. Told my sister and niece that I want my great niece as flower girl she is 2 years old!
For my BIL who is giving me away while we were visiting UK for sisters birthday we all met for breakfast, soon as he finished eating I said would you give me away. Thought he was going to cry x Also it means he cant get out of coming as he hasn't flown for years and does not like heat of any sort! bless him

I got cards that had cute hand drawings of dresses on the front that say "will you be my bridesmaid?" My step sister was super excited, and my best friend already knew she was going to be but still has the card on display :)

I made cards and gave them to my two friends during a girls night, and then asked my BIL fiance when we had them over for dinner after OH had asked him to be an usher. They were all so excited. My bro got a text saying telling him we were engaged and I hope hes ready for usher duties. His gf thought something bad had happened when he nearly started tearing up in the middle of tesc0.

You could propose to them. That would definitely be a unique way to ask lol. X

    Thanks everyone!

I have seen these cute mini heart piñatas that I am going to make and fill with a wee slip that says will you be my bridesmaid and fill it with heart confetti/sweets etc!

Will try and upload a photo when it is done

I did mine a small hamper each. Bought white wicker baskets from *****H088y Cr@ft and filled them with a lip balm, bath bomb, nail varnish, chocolates, face mask, bracelet, wine, a photo of us together and a card asking them to be bridesmaid.

I did it over FaceTime as they all live hours away! It was great to see their reactions as they all varied so much. It went from my MoH bursting into tears and not being able to speak to one of my friends completely chilled out saying "yeah I thought that's why you'd be ringing..." I loved it :) was a fun evening asking them all. Celebrated with some fizz!

I got some customised wine bottle stickers from £t$y which had a photo of me and my BM and said 'will you be my bridesmaid'. I gave it to them just before we went in for my first dress appointment! xx

I am going to send cards to the ladies I hope will be my bridesmaids, sadly I cannot give them in person to three because they live 4 hours away and 1 lives in the other valley nearby which is difficult for me to get to. Saying that, I may be able to give the card to the lady near me in person, I hope I can as I know other family (my partners family) will be there too so it would be a nice occasion.

I have seen some lovely "will you be my bridesmaid" cards on a few different websites, I hope you find the right way to ask for you!

I just asked my 2 daughters, and they were so happy and excited, but have not yet asked my maid of honour.
She just assumed that she would be, as she is also my best friend, and she has been dropping hints all over the place.

I moved to South Wales almost 18 months ago, and so only now manage to see her once every few months. I am planning a surprise visit (with the help of her hubby) and I am planning to take her shopping and then for coffee then onto the shop where I am planning to purchase the dresses from and pick one and say something like "hope you like the colour and style, as this is what I would like you to wear"

I am sure she will say yes - at least I'm really hoping she will.

Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan
