Sam - Think your family is big? We're having 140 during the day, 90% of that is family and we DIDN'T invite about half our families! It's a bit of a nightmare, but we can't not invite a lot of my family all day because they live 400+ miles away (a few are coming from the US, Australia and Brazil).

I know ours is bigger than average, but I thought the average was about 100.

Think it really depends on your budget sometimes our venue is quite expensive per head as they say so im keeping it small so 40 people day and then an extra 30 in the evening!! We have loads of kids also!!

We've got 144 confirmed with a possible maximum of 148 (which is looking likely). Like Special Sundae our family is huge and a very small proportion of that are actually friends. We have a further 86 confirmed for the evening. Costing a chuffing fortune!! Had to be a clever bride and have been buying things gradually for the last 18 months to cushion the blow! x

We're having 100 during the day, upto about 140-150 at night. We had min numbers to meet and due to the size of h2bs family, the smaller room wouldnt have been big enough so we made up the numbers with friends we keep in contact with regularly (mostly mine). I'm amazed when I watch 4 brides USA and they're having weddings with 300 guests - do they just pluck randoms off the street??

In all honesty, we wouldn't have struggled to invited 300+ people. We have huge families (mine alone extends to 200+ people) and I have lots of friends (Grant probably has less but still has a fair few). It's amazing how many people you know when you start writing them down.

Not sure on the average wedding but ours is HUGE!
we have invited all family and friends to the day so max 150 then we have our business contacts and friends to the evening bringing it up 250!
Im trying to get it to 200 but its not easy :-(

I've never wanted a big wedding - and luckily h2b has the same idea - so we've only invited very close family to the wedding (20 of us altogether) but decided to all go upto Gretna Green as it would be something different, we could have the full weekend away and it's quite historic, which we both like the idea of.

When we get back from honeymoon we're having an 'evening reception' and inviting everyone else to celebrate then - so about 100 to 150 extended family, friends and colleagues.
