I have searched but can't see anyone asking How people are going to be displaying their names or numbers of the tables?
I haven't yet picked any names but am thinking a bout centre pieces and was wondering what would be used to say the name of the table so guests can see it and so it doesn't look odd or out of place with the centre piece.
Look forward to hearing your ideas :) x

im having butterfly numbers (see pics) and they will just sit nicely on the table one either side of my lily vases, im also printing the menu inseid them so that there is one less thing to try and display. can you make your numbers o they stand up, of tie them to your centre piece with some ribbon? x
Nice ideas..where do you get the stands from? becky I'm liking the wine bottle and label idea :)

Alot of venues have stands but I personally do not like them as once everyone is sitting down they serve no purpose except to be in the way. I personally prefer smaller cards that stand on the table and they can double as menu holders too. I have some pics uploaded of a wedding I did where I did this style table name cards and seperate menus to complement the centrepieces
CommentAuthorMadam Butterfly
I don't mean to sound thick but.. some of you say about menus being on them..don't people choose their food before? or does it list people pre-chosen choices for the table?, I was thinking of having each persons choices on the back of the name card.

madam butterfly, most venues make you pick a set menu before the day so all your guests get the same thing, unless they are veggie so they don't need separate menus, 1 on each table will be fine. Thats why alot of people use either a piece of card with table name or number one side and menu the other side or a folder card with the table number or name on the front and inside the menu with a poem or reading

Thanks Mrs Walker to 2 b and becky, so its just a sort of reminder to what they are having then. Oh becky he is mean. I think without the spoon they would look great, perhaps a single rose in each instead? with the number on the bottle? x

Yeah, its not important to have them but its just nice for your guests to know what they will be having put infront of them! And you'll find the oldies will take it home with them as a little momento. I went to a wedding where they had a simple vase with flowers in and had card sticking out of the middle with the table number on.. looked very pretty and she done it all herself for about 9 quid a table

My theme is stars and fireworks.. so I'm having folded card with the table names on the front, which each table will be named after a firework and inside will be the menu and a poem that also fits my theme ..
Remember remember the 5th of November The date of the gunpowder plot it's also the special occasion and date when Melody and Stephen tie the knot
:-)
You don't have to spend loads on it! Once you have your table names it doesn't even have to be part of your centre pieces

I'm in two minds as at the moment my table plan is going to be a wishing tree with salt dough hearts on it with the guests name and table number. Our venue has the stands to put the cards on so I'm debating if I should make the cards up using the same paper and ribbon as the rest of the place cards and stationery or if I should hand another salt dough heart from the candelabras with the table number on. I don't want to clutter the tables but I'm not sure which one would look better. I think the stands would be easier to see from a distance but then I like the idea of not putting on any more clutter.

I have seen some gorgeous little blocks with letters on, but so far I can only find ones that spell out love (they are vintage looking). I'm going to keep looking though, I have my heart set on these now

Boo you could make them yourself if you wanted. I would get some clay etc then make the shapes etc. Fire them up (there are usually local potters that can do this for you. They could even glaze them for you or you could spray them after with either stone spray or an ivory enamel etc.
If you mean just a plain block with a letter or number on then you can get stamps from hobbycraft to spell out whatever you want which are pretty good too!

All lovely ideas :) Jo- I like the sound of the hearts to match the ones on the tree, as you say it saves the table becoming cluttered. We have 6 guests per table so I'm thinking I don't want to put too much in the middle.

Jo I love the idea of the heart hanging from your candleabra to match the wishing tree....sounds lovely! It does not take people long to find their table and then the stands are just in the way and add to the clutter
