how much did all your venues cost and what do you get?
i am really happy with mine at approx 3k with sit down for 80, pinky bubbly for toast, evening buffet for an additional 70, honeymoon suit, room hire, dj and toast master.

where i live the prices vary so much, in a hotel only 5 mins away we were looking at 5k for the same!

    Ours was 3k for:

    Civil ceremony room hire
    Reception room hire
    Private bar
Champagne and canapes on arrival for 40
    3 course meal for 40
Half bottle of wine for 40
    Champagne for the toast
    DJ for evening entertainment
    Evening buffet for 65
Chair covers for ceremony and reception rooms
Flowers for the ceremony (long and low top table arrangement)
Bridal suite for bride and groom with breakfast
    Toastmaster

    Plus:
Free stay for bride and groom with 3 course evening meal and breakfast on 1st anniversary
Discount of 10% on all rooms booked by guests

It wasn't supposed to include the chair covers and we were supposed to have the basic evening buffet as the package was actually for 50 in the day and 70 at night, but because we're only having 40 and 65 she put in chair covers and upgraded us to the posh, top tier evening buffet :o)

Bargain, or I think so anyway!!! xxx

Ours is a lot more than that, it's 2600 for venue hire alone but this includes all security, lighting etc - then catering is on top so for 160 people it's 8k including toasts, table wine etc and setting up a pay bar for the evening - we did have a bespoke menu though! Toastmaster is 250 and DJ is included with the band hire so that's 850 for 3-4 hours (2 band sets then they dj in between). After we're done it's back to my mum's house for the night as the venue isn't a hotel and we thought there was no point booking a hotel as we wouldn't get there till 1am and have to check out the morning after!

We're happy with everything we've got though so wouldn't change any of our choices so far :-)

ooh and we're having a church wedding too so that will be about 400-500 once you add up the costs for the ceremony, licence, organist, choir and bell ringing!

Mine is £2250 for venue hire, but that does give us the whole building for the whole day.
Plus posh bbq for 80 people at £25 per head. We have a meeting with them next week and I am going to haggle hard!
I want them to include the bridal suite (when we first visited the guy said that we could 'probably' have the suite thrown in) and I'm going to be really cheeky and ask for canapes to be thrown in too.
If you don't ask you don't get!!
I know that our venue hire is expensive but it is exactly what we want and it is the most important thing to us so we decided that it was worth paying.

We're getting married at Matfen Hall Northumberland and it will cost around £9k. That includes the exclusive use of the East wing, bridal suite, three course meal for 80, reception and toast champagne, two glasses of wine per person, table plan and settings, toastmaster, evening buffet. To be honest I went to have a look and fell in love with the venue and will feel like a princess on the day. I think it's the look of the place I fell in love with and why it costs so much (£3k for venue hire alone with minumum guest numbers of 80). There is a stunning staircase case that leads into the great hall where the ceremony takes place and I just imagined walking down that to the aisle. God I'm sooooo excited! xx

    Mine is just under £2000.

    We get:

Welcoming drinks (glass of bubbly or OJ)
    Ceremony and Reception Venue
    4 Course Wedding Breakfast
Half a bottle of wine per person
Glass of bubbly pp for the toast
Linen, cutlery, chair covers and sashes
    Evening Buffet
    Honeymoon Suite
    Red Carpet and MC

I think there is more to it but these are the only bits I'm interested in lol. Mine is for 35 day guests and 65 evening guests.

Its in a lovely part of the country too. If its warm (which hopefully it will be because wedding is in June) we can have the ceremony outdoors in a small courtyard but if its cold or wet there is a conservatory inside we can use. We've also got the choice of a white mustang and a classic Rover MG (which is amazing looking) and a boat on Loch Lomond to use for photos. All offered by friends of ours :-)

Ours is separate but we have:

    900 ceremony room hire
0 for evening room hire as we get married there
    8.00 for canapes per person
66.00 bridal breakfast per person and £4 add on if we opt for the lamb
16.00 for pimms cocktail and half bottle of wine and fizzy wine for toast
    16.00 for evening buffet
150 upgrade from complimentary toom to the tower suite for bride and groom.
They also throw in a toastmaster and a very large long and low. No other venue dressing tho :( so we have to pay extra for that.

Dont know what all that is but we are having 50 day guests and 80 total in evening. Hope this helps.

It includes room hire, 90 daytime guests, with welcome drink, 3 course meal with coffee and mints, half bottle of wine with meal, glass of bubbly for toasts, then a buffet for 120 in evening. this is all £12k then an additional £800 for the civil ceremony room hire grrrrr (that really peeeved me off!) chair covers were not included but was quoted £4 per chair! paah! i got that cheaper elsewhere, disco was included in that above price too :) as was our accomodation.
like i said, it is a bit much to pay, but everything else is so wonderful there xx (pics in my albums) xxx

Kev's Angel - the additional £800 were the last straw why I just couldn't go with the Barns Hotel. Not that I could have afforded the £12000 for the rest.

We're currently at £2400 but haven't haggled a drinks package yet - so will come up a little.

Room hire £200 for the day (ceremony) and £600 for the rest (meal and rest of the night), mixed meat roast with bits and bobs on the side for £1200 and £4 per head for desserts (different classic English puds) - so far I am counting 100 people day and night but that's a high estimate so price might be less anyway.

If we hire a marquee the £600 room hire would go towards the marquee but as this would be around £2000 it's overbudget. If we're able to raise enough money we shall have a marquee.

So with the really highest and most expensive estimate it won't be more than 5k - everything else I am diying or collecting at fleamarkets/ebay and such.
