I made my dress the other day and tried it on, it definately needs a petticoat underneath to give the dress a really nice shape, but the petticoat I have has a removable hoop. So today I am removing it, and adding more layers of tulle to it, to hopefully give it the shape I want for my dress, but also to give it a more natural looking movement......I know it will probably be hotter wearing it, as a hoop keeps the dress off the legs, but I really dont want to get stuck in doorways with the hoop, and I think they move quite un-naturally....
Any thoughts or ideas? has anyone here had a hoopless petticoat?

I hate hoops to be honest so I know I will need an underskirt so I too am going to go for lots of layers of tulle to get the same effect...............plus it will be easier to sit down hopefully lol

I have LOADS of tulle here for projects I was going to do then abandoned, I have Ivory middle weight tulle and also some white very stiff net.....I think all put together will be enough to make this petticoat stand out nicely. It has 2 layers of tulle on it already , but not quite enough as the weight of the dress flattens it a bit....

i have a hoop and a hoopless one. i am adding the hoop to the tulle one as it gathered between my legs and i was walking like an idiot lol my dress is too heavy to wear without a hoop
i don't think all dresses need a hoop though
