We have just been informed that we have to pay to the hotel a tourist tax for the Italian government but the email doesnt say how much. Another case of daylight robbery if you ask me. Does anyone know how much this is per person per day? Thanks

I've paid this in Amsterdam and Prague, I think it was 5% in both. Come hotels incorporate it into the cost, others add it on at the end. Worth just checking with them.

I know that in Vegas we were supposed to pay a 'resort fee' of $20 per person per day, but our package had this waived, which was a relief! Most places in the USA will charge tax on top of your room charge (amount depends on the State), so best to watch our for that!
Vegas baby!

Rip off! MrsShaw, we came back from holiday in Tunisia recently- beautiful and gorgeous weather by the way- and we had no tax to pay. Just a few cheeky people and their funny sayings. Oh and tip when you want, not when you're told you should. Oh and tip waiters at end of holiday in English money, somehow they get a better rate when changing it over or something. My chambermaid cried when I gave her a tenner and gave me flowers, hugged me and went a bit nuts bless her. It's a lot poorer there, I quickly realised and they compare the exchange rates and call you cheap in some places when you try to barter down but don't take any of it xxx
