My H2B has found *******************- a website for those who don't want to get the normal wedding gifts, but would appreciate gifts of money from their guests to help fund their honeymoon.
It sounds like a great idea.. I'm just wondering if it's too good to be true?
OK, so there is a £55 signing up fee, though you can get a discount code at the moment if you search on google, and from a review I read this morning you can have different options and amounts for people to pay.
Is it all good, or is it a waste of my time and money?
A x
EDIT in line with ukbride rules the name of the website has been removed (as this was also the title of the post that has been changed too) Please put the name on your wall and not in the forum. Please read the forum rule thread at the top of the page thanks MODS

My only concern would be if the company went under, what would happen to the money?
Also, I think most of the big travel operators will do it for free - but hen of course you are tied to booking with them, I think.

I've seen a few of these but don't know if they are legit, if they are it seems like a really good idea. :)

My friend got married last year, she booked the honeymoon and then sent out the details with a code, people could pay in what they wanted, either anonymously or with a well wish attached. They went with the Cooking Thomas. I would be worried about going with a company I didnt know.

from what I understand, you either put a password on the site and give your own bank details, then give the site address and password to those who wish to give, or they pay in cash, cheque or via paypal (though I imagine Paypal would charge).

Only thing is, we know where we want to go, but it is MUCH cheaper to do it ourselves, booking the hotel and flights direct.

When we went to book our honey moon with Thomas Cook, they asked if we wanted to pay ourselves or get cards from them that we could send out in our invites, people then take them into their nearest store and pay as much as they want into an account for us. I think doing it this way would be much safer and easier.

The company we booked our honeymoon though do a Wedding Gift list service where guests can contribute towards the honeymoon, we booked through Tr@!lf!nd£r5 (hope you can work that out). We didn't use that service as we're having a traditional gift list at a well known dept. store but I thought it was a good idea and would've used it if we wanted contributions towards the honeymoon.

Would'nt it just be easier and safer to ask them to pay into a paypal account? i know theres a fee though? xx

if you are going to go down that route why not just set up a savings account ... no signing up fee or ( check for this ) no percentage taken as admin fee ..... and you can put the account details in your invites
I agree with the ladies suggesting paypal or setting up a savings account for this purpose. If I was giving a couple a cash gift I would be uncomfortable paying into a scheme like this. I can't help but think about that Christmas savings scheme that went bust...

I think if you book your honeymoon through a large reputable travel agent like the one I booked through and they provide this "wedding gift" service that it's ok and quite nice. I personally would rather pay into this than into a paypal or bank account, at least I know the money is going towards the honeymoon rather than to just pay bills or the mortgage/rent.

We've set up a 'honeyfund' with the choice that's first. You can add 'extras' for your honeymoon - for example, a private transfer to & from your hotel is £5, champagne & chocolate during the flight is £35 etc, you can add these on your profile, then give your guests the link & they can choose which they would like to buy you, none of them are really expensive either & it's all transferred to a gift card, that you then use with the company xx

The shop Lewis and John is linked to a honeymoon company and the Lewis and John gift list can be linked to it.
