I still havent got any favours and I did some sums last night - turns out we will be really struggling money wise untill the big day as the rings were more expensive than we thought and i was off work sick for 2 months which majorly put us behind money wise.
I thought I would be able to spare £20/£30 for favours but doesnt look like an option now. I have a job lot of 100 wooden roses in black and white that I got really cheap from the bay. They were going to be used in the centrepieces but we've changed our mind on that now, there must be something I can do with these wooden roses to make them into favours?
The only idea Ive had is to tie a white and a black rose together with a pretty ribbon and attach a wee tag with our names and the date of the wedding on them, but thats a bit dull isnt it? Has anyone got any ideas? I have lots of fabric and ribbon and bits and bobs in the house.

i think that your idea is a good idea to be honest, it will be a nice little keepsake. If the roses are wooden then is there a way or engraving or writing on them perhaps Mr & Mrs xxxxxxx and then the wedding date for a keepsake? x

There a wee bit too delicate for that I think, the petals are made from really thin wood so not sure they would withstand engraving :-/ I was thinkin I could tie a pretty label to the favours with the date on?
If I had more money it would be very cute to tie a wee bottle of whiskey or something on to the ribbon too. Ive got the gorgeous red gingham ribbon left from xmas that would be perfect. I wonder if theres anywhere I can get a load of whiskey minatures for like a tenner lol. Doubtful haha.

I have red and ivory wooden roses and all we are doing with them is..... we are putting the guests name tags on with a little ribbon then laying them across their plates! The tags will have their name and menu choice under it on one side, then on the back will be our names and the date

That sounds lovely, see thats what I thought and then as usual my H2B said he had a better idea and wouldnt tell me what it was!!!
So now we've decided to have a competition to see who can make the best favour out of the roses lol. I want to whip his a55 :-)
Hi why not buy a chocolate lolly mold and attach some chocolate lollypops to the roses, cheap and homemade xxx
CommentAuthorRockabilly chick
Ooh I like that idea, a wee heart mould or something would look lovely :-)

I was hoping to use some as decoration too, I have 35 guests during the day and 100 roses so for the favours I would need 70.
So that means I would have 30 left with 7 at the top table that leaves enough to put them in the chairs too.....ooooh....Ill get excited about these ideas and then H2B will turn round and say no what about this. He went to art school so he reckons he should come up with the arty ideas. Twonk. lol

Actually thats wrong isnt it - the 7 at the top table would be getting gifts not favours eh?

They are really cheap and easy to make (ive just made 35 with my grandson for easter presents for his class) hobycraft have all the bits you need and you can get the chocolate cheap in the supermarkets, we brought some cellophane from the range for about £3.00 to wrap them, we have been asked to make a hundred for the our villages jubilee party x

You can freeze them so id say you could make them 4-5 days before or even a week or 2??

Q: How far in advance can I make them? Can I freeze them?
A: You can make them a month in advance, if you like, because yes you can freeze them! Once the chocolate is hard, there is no risk of the chocolate cracking from freezing the pops/balls and removing them. If you freeze them, be sure to defrost them in the refrigerator 24 hours before servings so that they won’t sweat when you serve them. They sweat like crazy if you take them straight from the freezer, especially in the summer. If you don’t wish to freeze them, I’d recommend making them no more than a week in advance and keeping them in the refrigerator.

Could you make them into key-rings or something or are they too delicate? I know I've seen packs of those ring yokes off key-rings and they def weren't expensive :)

Id forgotton about this thread lol! Im so dizzy sometimes. Ive managed to get H2B to agree to a black rose and a white rose tied with a red gingham ribbon and a wee wooden heart label - we'll write the date and our names on it :-)
I am still toying with the idea of lollipops but I am thinking about seeing if I can get some cheapish :-) Im workin a lot before the wedding and wont have a lot of spare time :-/ lots of gigs on and working extra days in the office too.....need the cash unfortunately :-(

Sounds good, and good that you've made the decision so it's not bothering you any more!! ;)

Sounds absolutely fine, a friend of mine the other year had Welsh love spoons with a tag saying their wedding date and names on it as favours - we're having cupcakes as ours, my cousin is going to make them all and we'll put one at each person's place on the tables :-)
