The more organising I do the more I wonder if we would be better just going away to the sunshine and getting married! What are your thoughts? xx

It depends on what you & h2b really want - after automatically looking at having a typical english wedding we sat down, talked and realised we'd rather go abroad (although to Iceland in winter lol!) Xx

I really really really wanted to go abroad to get married. My OH is desperate for a marquee, but when we priced it up along with feeding the guests we were astounded, so i started looking at alternatives. He wants to do something different, so i looked abroad. I discovered that i could take our parents, grandparents and siblings abroad with us, and pay for them in a 5* all inclusive for a week out in Cyprus for the same money as we'd be spending on the marquee.

We discussed with family & friends- my family all said we shouldn't pay for them, they should pay for themselves, our friends offered to pay for themselves. My OH's family from the moment we mentioned it all came up with reasons why they couldn't come on a free holiday. So, we abandoned plans as we didn't want to do it with out OH's family. I'm still a little disappointed, so i'd say if you want to do it, then do it!!

We organised a fantastic UK wedding, but for us it just became so stressful and costly that we cancelled losing £1250 deposit.

We are now getting married in Cyprus and couldnt be happier, we are also saving several thousand even after losing the deposit. 51 out of our original 60 guests are coming.

One of your main considerations would be can the people you want there, be there. I think this is why many couples considering getting married abroad don't go through with their ideas.
I think before you think too seriously on marrying abroad you should talk to the family and friends that matter to you and get a general idea of whether it would be feasible for them. xx

we were gonna do it in secret in toronto when we went a couple of years ago (before i got ill) but h2b said he couldnt do it as his mum was getting treatment for breast cancer and if she got better didnt want her to miss out as she got upset she may not see him get married!. so after i got better we decided big do here for family and friends instead making everyone happy!!! xx
