    Hey guys
My H2B and I are toying with idea of having guests give holiday vouchers instead of gifts towards a honeymoon. We have lived together for years and dont need traditional gifts like toasters and plates etc. We wont be having a honeymoon because all our money is going towards the wedding so we thought holiday vouchers would be perfect.

What does everyone think? Also does anybody know how we go about it? Any companies that help collect the money and help you spend it? xxx

Hiya Joey, thats exactly what we are doing. We've been together 11 years so have everything we need for the house so we have set up an account with Thomson. We put a note in with the invites saying we wouldnt be able to have a holiday for the next few years while we pay the wedding off so thought it would be nice to be able to take the kids away next year.

Thomson did an account where people can just ring up or go in to a branch to pay. After the wedding, you can either book a holiday with them or just get the cash back. My sis in law works for thomson though and told me last week that they'e stopped doing it now so we were lucky to get in.

I'm pretty sure Thomson and Thomas Cook do vouchers though xx

We have asked for contributions towards our honeymoon as like you we have lived together for couple of years and dont need traditional items. We booked our honeymoon thru thomas cook and they give ppl option to buy us gift vouchers which we can redeem after wedding and the amount will be credited back to us however we settle final payment,or ppl can visit and thomas cook and provide our booking ref number and pay some off that way. Hope that helps! x

Im having the same as in a similar situation to you. I used to work for Thomas cook and they have a link on there website where you can register for wedding gifts and give the account number to all your guests and they can pay into it. You can either book you honeymoon, pay for it, then get the money back or use it as a pot of money......have a look at your next wedding fair....I was at one last weekend and Thomas Cook had a stand x

Oh no just tried to find the link and thomas cook have re-designed there website and cant find it!!! as an alternative you can buy Thomas Cook holiday vouchers (they have no expiry date) and give them. Just remember they cannot be used for foreign exchange only towards a holiday x

any luck with Thomas Cook? I thought the full honeymoon had to be paid for 12weeks before you leave? I want to leave a few days after my wedding so not sure this is thing for me, as i would imagine most guests would only donate a few weeks before wedding!

The honeymoon does normally have to be paid 12 weeks in advance so this isn't always possible for people to do! Works out great for us as we have booked our honeymoon 13 weeks after the wedding, The balance has to be paid the week after the wedding so hopefully if anyone is paying a little towards it, they will have done it before the balance needs paying!

ooohhh mauricius sounds lovely! thats where we are thinking of going or the maldives. we are planning to probabaly go away oct half term or xmas so that will get round the 12 week issue. I think if youre planning to do this sort of thing youve got to give up having the honeymoon straigh afterwards unless the company you go with will let you transfer the money over asap?
Sorry linzi i havent had time to lool, have you found anywhere? Thanks cecile ill have a look at trailfinders xxx
