Yes i think they have too be outside but if u cant have any outside access what about asking if they can do joints and then have someone carve them inside?
Never thought of that hanhan. will get h2b to get onto the venue and find out if there is outdoor space for us to have one of these and if not will find out about the joints. xx

Yes I agree, for the sake of smoke etc they have to be done outside, but thats not to stop people grabbing some food then flocking back inside with it x

We're having a hog roast too and I have read on some websites that they can do them inside as long as it is well ventilated. And some of them have special machines which don't create too much smoke for indoor cooking. But not all venues allow them as we are finding out.

Our hog roast is an inside one xx

I've been to functions where they were inside - however, they were just roasting joints but you still got exactly the same food as you would at an outdoorsy hog roast, on the plus side the guests didn't have to look at the rotating pig corpse (which I think looks lush but I know it does put some guests off).
Or they can do it outside and bring it in...
Higginzajac, is yours a traditional one with the pig on a spit etc? I'd love one, but our reception venue is two floors up so outdoor space is an issue xx
