I've only even come across it on venues (thankfully not the one we've booked) Whereby the costs are all detailed and then in very fine small print it has *prices excluding v.a.t.* Theres also sme suit hire companies that require a waver to ensure that should the suits get damaged they can take money from your account, similar to a hotel booking ibelieve.

I think when some companies hear wedding they jst assume brides are so wrapped up in the planning they wont notice if a few quid gets added on at the end. xx

Make sure u get all quotes and agreements in writing because I've hard few stories where the venue n other supplies bumped the price up at end and u have no written proof it's not what u agreed. Also when haggling check the paperwork to make sure they still included everything u wanted coz sometimes they take stuff out like chair covers coz they lowered the cost x

Definitely not! Im terrible for haggling my h2b gets a bit embarassed sometimes as im always at it lol!. Just make sure you read the small print on any contracts you sign. Or ask for their terms and conditions before youeven book. We were pretty lucky with our venue as they were completly open about their costings.

I've heard of them - charges for silverware, napkins & the like. Like the others said I agree that it's important to get everything in writing and ask about anything that is missing.

I can't believe that one venue had excluding vat in small print. You are never going to pay for a wedding through a business so knowing the vat free price would never help. The only reason they would do that is to make the price appear much lower than it is which is really an unfair contract term. Always read the small print and always ask exactly what is included for the price and what isn't

The only "hidden" cost is when the Registra bumped up the price by £40's, we sent them a check to pay them and they came back rejecting it saying its gone up by £40!
