I thought I would share with everyone some of my findings and I'm sure alot of you will add to the list. I figure this will help new brides to set up their budgets etc.
I've found I have had to pay for things which I didn't expect for things such as: wedding certficates Banns to be read or giving notice to registrar Engraving of wedding rings (depending where you buy them) Extra charges from venue for having a couple of meals different from everyone else Cake stands (if your venue doesn't provide them) Cake knife (if venue doesn't provide them) Fittings for your dress and bridesmaids Damage waiver on suit hire Fuel allowence for vintage cars after a certain distance wedding insurance
Please feel free to add to the list to help others out.

I'm lucky my venue has loads of them which is a good job with the amount of kids and babies I've got coming. They also have loads of travel cots as well.
CommentAuthorluvlifejen (mrs berr
wow ur lucky lol i have quite alot of kids coming i'm so excited haha i will have about 5 until 1 tho :S but their parents are sending them with grandparents after 7 poor things (mum and dads time to party i think!) so all the evening kids are over 5 the youngest is my step son xx

My OLD VENUE decided they wanted to charge an extra £55 for the setting up of a table for our sweet station...for sweets and jars we are providing! Exactly what part of sticking a tablecloth on a table takes £55???? xxx

Ojsmummy - I think £33.50 is the national standard for registrar fees/banns but it changes every year so by the time you get round to needing to do it you're probably looking at around £37-£40 xxx
It's right what they say
"The course of true love never runs smoothly"
But if it had been easy then we wouldn't love each other as
much as we do right now - 1 week to go :D

I would like to add stamps to the list. im sure most people have thought of them but i didnt, when you think you need stamps for save the dates, day and evening invites, it all adds up! x

CommentAuthorGriff
I can't believe how expensive it all is one venue i've seen charges 350 for using their dj but charges 400 to let another dj in at the venue!!!
CommentAuthorJane
If I was having a sit down 3 course meal I would have free table linen. Because I'm having a sit down buffet I have to pay laundry charges for table linen. I kid you not. Not impressed. Especially as half the table cloths are being provided by me as they are a special colour!!!! So I'm paying to launder my own tablecloths!!!!
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
Ouch Jane I would have them about that. If they are your table clothes then you can take them home dirty and wash them yourself surely?

register signing pen, guest books, post boxes, place cards and menus. They are all things i hadnt even thought about when we first went over our budget.
seen someone on real weddings signing their register with a bic biro! shock horror.

CommentAuthorLucie
seriously you have to bring your own pen to sign the register? Now that one shocked me! there's so much to think about isnt there with it all. Still cant quite get my head round the fact we have to pay to say we want to get married as well as pay to get married!

CommentAuthorNuttytart
Yes there are loads of things thats why people should allow a 10% contingency fund in their budget.
CommentAuthorsalamander
we have an all in one venue, but I didn't notice that the actual ceremony room hire wasn't included, so that's an extra few hundred on top of the thousands I'm already paying
Also...
dress alterations nails makeup hair trials breakfast for those staying somewhere overnight (mine's part of the price but others may not be)

Lucie - defo take a nice pen with you to wedding! They will have a pen there for you to use, and if you are happy getting photographed holding an old half chewed bic then fine. But I think I would rather something a bit nicer in my photos!
