I am hoping that someone will be able to answer a question for me. I have read that I need to give notice in the district where I live no more than 12 months before the date which is fine however do I have to wait until then before I can book the registrar? and therefore not book a venue?
CommentAuthorUnknown
welcome and congrats.
you cant give notice more than 12 months before but you can book the appointment to give notice before 12 months if that makes sense.
you can book a venue, as i did. but what you need to be careful is that the registra will be able to do your wedding on that day.
i booked our registra giving notice appointment about 3 or 4 months before we could give notice notice and gave it on the first day possible but we couldnt have the time we wanted because they were already booked xx

Ok thanks, think I am going to call the registrar in the morning and see what they say and cross my fingers.

It depends massively on where you live, we couldnt reserve our registrar until exactly a year before but in other areas you could reserve a time slot whenever you booked your venue. The actual giving notice and booking of the registrar was separate, we booked our registrar then gave notice 2 or 3 months later
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

welcome and congratulations
i would check your county council website for the last informations in your area because i have found some of the rules are different from county to county. i live in lincolnshire and have provisionally booked our time and date and have to give notice between July 2012 and September 2012 for my July 2013 wedding or i lose my reservation. but other county's wont let couples do that and have to book with in the 12 months before the wedding . also some registry office charge a fee to provisional books
