Hi Becky!
Welcome!! There are definately lots of ways to save money and still make your wedding look amazing! We are on a bit of a tight budget and with the venue and food/drink taking up 90% of the budget I am resorting to making all the decor myself!
As we are getting married in Autumn, we are having lots of logs, candles and chestnuts etc.
What kind of theme are you going for??

Congratulations and welcome to the site. There are loads of things you can do to save money without looking cheap. You could make your own cake or get a friend or family member to do it for you as a wedding gift, and Instead of wedding favours why not cut your cake up on the day so everyone can have some of your cake on the day. That saves you buying cake boxes and visiting everyone after your wedding and saves you money on buying favours and favour boxes. Go on ebay and look for decorations and other little items you may need, you can get some good deals on ebay. Make your own invitations, order of service etc. Do you know any family or friends of family who are muscians, dj's etc where you may be able to get a good deal on the price. Is someone in the family really good at photography, could they take your wedding photos for you?
I went to a wedding last year and the centre pieces were amazing, and the bride let people buy these from her and we just offered a token amount for them. I thought this was a great idea, that way the bride is pulling back some of the money she spent and in turn wasn't left with loads of items she had no use for after the wedding. You would be amazed how well people like this. I wanted one but when i found out they had all gone. ha ha xx
Congratulations on your engagement and welcome to the site! You'll find alot of us are on a tight budget so you'll see lots of ideas on here i'm sure :-) x

Welcome to the site Becky!! :) Am also planning a wedding on a tight budget for September 2014, there are so many ways to make great savings, without anything looking cheap ;) am sure you're bound to find lots of ideas on here too! xxx For example, if you're having a post box, maybe instead of buying one and paying out at least £10 for one, you could do what I am doing and find a box that you already have in the house, and wrap it to make your post box! :) xxxx

Hi, thanks for all your lovely comments. I have now changed my settings to public. I'm quite lucky that my caterer includes all the centre pieces etc so won't need to do that. Going to do the invites myself. Do you have to have favors? I'm at my budget and that's not even including my dress or our wedding rings. Most of our money is going on venue and food. Maybe we need to save harder.....x
