Im planning a rock theme for my wedding, when it comes to music and to table names. I was wondering if you could help me come up with some song ideas for things like walking back up the aisle with my hubby. I'm planning walking down the aisle with my dad to Sweet Child o'mine by Guns'N'Roses. So i want similar things for through out the day. Any ideas? Thank you! Xxx

Hi Katy
I'm sure we can come up with a few for you!
Let's address the table names first. Can I ask an approximate age for you and your husband and also ages of your guests? If you could give me an age range and then I could come up with some names for you suitable to that. Eg: If you had a table of 'older' people you could base their name on a 70s rock group for example.
Do you have any musical preferences at all? Any style of rock in particular that you like or dislike?
If you could let me know your preferences and maybe the times you need music for and I'll see what I can come up with.

Hello Darren
This is a long shot but do you know of any reputible DJs in cumbria-pref Carlisle please?
We are also wanting a rock/indie disco and dont know where to start looking :(

I already have table names, we've gone for Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Kiss, Guns'N'Roses, Bon Jovi, Velvet Revolver, Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Evanescence. Ages range from 5 up to 85 for guests, Im 23 and my fiance is 33. Ages of people on different tables will differ quite largely. Our wedding is having 35 ish kids so it'll b tables with kids and tables with grandparents etc. We dont have any particular preferences except maybe Alice Cooper and Guns'N'Roses are something we listen to more regularly.
Hope that helps! Xxx

Hi Niccy
I have a colleague in Workington who might be able to help. He is a reputable operator, but I am not sure on the kind of music he plays. I would contact him to ask. http://www.dynamic-entertainment.co.uk/ A little tip for you, lots of DJs don't advertise that they specialise in specific sorts of music, so it is always worth asking. Also, there a lot of professional guys out there who are willing to research particular genres and be 'led' by yourselves in terms of bands and requests to play. As long as the DJ is comfortable with playing what you are asking, there shouldn't be a problem.

I will have a think this afternoon and post up a few suggestions then. One that is in my brain straight away, but again depends on your taste and sense of fun is The Darkness - I believe in a thing called love!
I do know quite a few hundred DJs all round the country though through forums, trade shows and generally getting out there and meeting people! (Networking I believe is the proper word to use!)
Still thinking Katy. :-)

Hi Claire - I think that is near to Scott, the other disco expert on here. Perhaps you could have a word with him?
OK, back to the music for Katy. This is harder than I thought as I didn't really want to go into the rock ballad route as I thought that would be boring. Anyway, I have a little list for you. This is just for fun, so please don't be offended! There might be one or two you can use and one or two that might give you a laugh!
Walking back down the aisle: The Darkness - I believe in a thing called love Bad Company - Can't get enough ACDC - You shook me all night long GooGoo Dolls - Stay with you Hoobstank - The reason David Lee Roth - Just like paradise Led Zepp - Whole lotta love
For the groom: Rainbow - I surrender Iron Maiden - Run to the hills ZZ Top - Sharp dressed man Green Day - Know your enemy Foreigner - Waiting for a girl like you
For the bride: Deep Purple - Strange kind of woman Foreigner - Cold as ice Iron Maiden - Bring your daughter to the slaughter ZZ Top - Gimme all your lovin'
Wedding reception: Joan Jet - I love rock n roll Elton John - Saturday night's alright for fighting Kiss - Crazy crazy nights
Not to be used...:-P Alice Cooper - Poison Kaiser Chiefs - Everyday I love you less and less Led Zepp - Babe I'm gonna leave you
(Not to be taken too seriously!!!!!)

Hi Hails
DJs really should carry back up gear, I agree and as minimum, back up music playout system (CD decks or laptop), spare mixer and spare amp. Sometimes due to space constraints it is difficult to take a back up of everything though. I'm pleased to see that brides and grooms are taking things like this into consideration though, as should DJs.
I will have a quick look on my forum for you and see if I can recommend a reputable company for you.
If you would like to post a question to me, my thread is 'I am your UKBride Disco Expert - Please ask me a question'.
Thanks.
Scott.
(I'm back off to my own thread. Back over to you Darren!)

We have recently run a poll on UKbride to gauge how much brides are THINKING they are going to spend on their Disco. Here are the results to date, 4218 of you answered the polls.
I have already got my Wedding Disco sorted - 961 - 22%
I am planning to spend up to £200 - 1026 - 24%
I am planning to spend up to £300 - 824 - 19%
I am planning spend up to £400 - 288 - 6%
I am planning spend up to £500 - 342 - 8%
I am planning spend MORE than £500 - 146 - 3%
I am not having a Wedding Disco - 631 - 15%
Here's a question why are so many brides to be are PLANNING to spend less than £300 on their disco when it is going to be 50% of your wedding day? Surely this will be one of the smallest budgets of your wedding day? I know the entire wedding budget can vary from £3,000 to £100,000, but the average is still £16,000. This would mean that less than 2% of the budget is for 50% of the wedding?
It would be interesting to to ask Darren and Scott how much they think brides should budget for a decent DJ and Disco. What signs should brides look for?
The DJ isn't the only cost of the evening reception though- theres the evening buffet, room hire, decorations, cake, and other entertainment.

In answer to your earlier question, please contact either:
http://www.corabar.co.uk/ or http://www.andromedaroadshow.co.uk/
Both are reputable companies and are willing to travel to Peterborough. Give them a call or email.
In answer to J' fully loaded question....I couldn't really answer that. People have budgets to stick to, so there's no point in me sitting here and telling the ladies how much they should be spending. What I will say however is to think very carefully about your priorities for the evening. People really do remember the party and whether it was good or bad.
